I think I picked them to win 2. That was shocking.
More likely to be at http://detroitpistonsforum.com or http://www.detroitlionsforum.com/forums/ but I'll pop in every now and again.

Just goes to show that when you mail in stretches of the season, no matter how good you are, it can come back to haunt you at the end. Phil tried to tell them, Kobe tried to tell them, Magic tried to tell them.

Oh, well. Changes need to be made anyway, particularly in the back court.

The twenty second timeout blogger made some valid points about the detrimental effect of having to limit Kobe's minutes and having him practice away from the team. Chemistry suffers, and unspoken imperative to be as focused as the "ring" leader is undermined.

Vogel did well to end to the season with a bunch of solid players and no star. However, I wonder if the season was simply Lawrence Frank Syndrome. I would delay giving him any big contract. No one is going to be kicking in the door to steal him away, so the leverage is all in Indy's pocket.

Is Bird staying there?

Bird is staying.

I don't see how anyone in their right mind can be cheering for the Pacers. They were a sub 500 team in the East and shouldn't have been in the playoffs. What Vogel did with that team was basically this: change the rotations and get the fuck out of the way.

They got 1 game against the Bulls, big whoopee shit. The Bulls are going to get steamrolled by Miami. If they can keep it within 10 points on each loss, I will be shocked.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

Boozer's going to fold like he always does when it matters.

Semi Finals

Post by T Dot O Dot » Sat May 14, 2011 11:01 am

I just checked the NBA web site, Heat - Bulls start Wednesday (which is BS) and they have no timeline whatsoever for the WC semis?

It's a game 7 for god's sake, someone has to advance

Nah, Heat/Bulls start tomorrow (Sunday) at 8pm. Maybe the Mavs vs. Grizz/Thun starts Wednesday?

According to NBA.com’s Stats Cube, the Mavericks' clutch net rating (points per 100 possessions) in the playoffs is plus 73.91. That dwarfs their outstanding regular season clutch net rating of plus 25.12.

“Well, it helps to have Dirk,” Jason Kidd said. “When you have a go-to guy, nobody panics. You kind of welcome that atmosphere and that stage. We always are under control and try to make the right play. It helps to be able to go to a guy like Dirk who really welcomes that stage.”

Nowitzki has 25 points and no turnovers during those 19 clutch minutes. His true shooting percentage (which factors in the value of free throws and 3-pointers) during that time is an off-the-charts 82.5.

Hopefully he keeps it up. In 2006 he disappeared in the final 12 minutes of every game.

Dirk Nowitski may be having his coming out party at the age of 31/32 (whatever he is). It may be unprecedented.

Working so couldn't see the game, but it looks like Dallas needed all of his scoring as OKC kept coming until the end.

24 for 24 from the line - any questionable or downright blown calls among those?

I saw a high degree of difficulty. Mostly jumpers, but well defended. Some of that kick/entangle the defender shooting, but a lot more going on. The D could have tried harder to keep him from catching it with great position. Also, he'd put it on the floor and they couldn't deal.

Overall a much craftier performance than running out of control into the lane for the whistle.
