After a couple of years with Ted Roof as their DC, they'll want Sandusky back.

Why? They don't believe in defense like we do in the SEC.

If your program doesn't care about defense, then Ted Roof is your ideal DC. He'll have a long and happy career in Happy Valley.

We won the national championship because the best offense in our school's history BARELY managed to score JUST enough points to overcome the avalanche of points surrendered by Ted Roof's defense.

Mostly true, although I'll give the Roofster some credit for the last two games of that season...holding South Carolina and Oregon both to under 20 points is worth an attaboy.

Glad to hear Prosch was cleared...all in all, he'd rather have his mom be cancer-free and still be playing at Illinois, but I'm glad this worked out for him.

We just got a verbal from Daniel Carlson, the #4 kicker in the country. He pairs up nicely with fellow commit #1 punter Jimmy Hutchinson.

Our kicking game should be in good shape for the next 4 years.

They won't need a punter next season.

All smartassery aside, AU's o line should be well improved next season. I don't know if they'll have a RB strong enough to consistently move the ball.

Dyer will be sorely missed. But we've got six former 4 star RB's right now: Ontario McCalleb (senior), Quan Bray, Tre Mason, UA transfer Corey Grant and UF transfer Mike Blakely (sophomores), and Jovon Robinson (true freshman). The talent is there, though not much experience after O-Mac. I think Blakely is the best of the bunch.

A lot of us are excited about Jay Prosch, an All-American FB that transferred in from Illinois and has been cleared to play this fall. A really good FB will make the RB's play better.

I'm concerned that all of those 4-stars will be upset about their plummeting NFL stock due to limited carries.

AA, frustrated blue chippers languishing down on the depth chart is not a theoretical matter to us. Perhaps you noted the words "UF transfer" and "UA" transfer" attached to two of our RB's. We have benefited greatly from 4-star RB's at other SEC programs who were "upset about their plummeting NFL stock due to limited carries."

With a little luck we might get a Hart or a Yeldon after they've been processed out of T-town to make way for a Derrick Green or a Derrick Henry. Although we don't need them as badly as we did a couple of years ago. Yeldon in particular would have to do a serious penance for his treachery.

You have a stable of 4-stars. They all can't play, and two have already shown a propensity to xfer if they don't get sufficient PT. First Dyer jumps ship and, who will be next?

O-Mac is a senior, but he is so skinny that he will be snapped like a twig if he runs between the tackles. He will be used sparingly on end arounds and reverses, like Malzahn did. Robinson will redshirt. Bray is already a receiver, where we need help and where he also played in HS. That leaves Grant, Blakely and Mason - a very manageable rotation in a two-back offense. Prosch will be the perfect blocking back in short yardage situations. Nobody will get unduly bored.

No need for any medical hardships. If we need to get rid of anybody, someone will rob a store, and presto - problem solved.

So, McCaleb, Grant, Blakely, and Mason rotating in and out? Assume 60% run and 60 plays a game gives you 36 rushes a game: #1 gets 20 carries, #2 gets 10, #3 and 4 split the rest....some of your stars will be unhappy because their NFL resume isn't being padded. Wonder if Coach Malzahn needs some more players?

That's a possibility. It happened not too long ago. Remember when we had Cadillac and Brown? We had a third studly running back at the time by the name of Brandon Jacobs. He was more hyped than the other two when he signed. But he got tired of watching from the sidelines and transferred to Southern Illinois. He eventually wound up on the NY Giants.

Ah, 2003...that starting offense had at least 4 future first round picks, most of them JRs, and could only score 3 points total in our first two games...scored 10 points or less FIVE times. The Nallsminger offense in all its glory...geez, what a clusterfuck that was.

With a new OC, maybe some of those running backs can get involved in the passing game. Ronnie Brown was an excellent receiving RB, haven't really had one since.

I'll also be interested to see how he involves an honest-to-God FB into the offense. Last blocking FB we had worth a damn was Brandon Johnson and that was nearly a decade.

4 star RB Jordan Wilkins commits to AU today. The bad news is, with all the great RB's we are getting, some will probably get frustrated and eventually transfer out.

The good news is, we are now ranked at #8 in the reputable recruiting service, #7 in the unethical one.
