The Times/CBS poll of registered voters (not likely ones) found Mitt Romney leading Obama, 46% to 43%. A curious finding is that over the past month, the "gender" gap seems to have vanished. When the same respondents were interviewed in April, men favored Romney 49% to 43%, while women favored Obama 49% to 43%. In May both sexes favored Romney, the gents by 45% to 42% and the ladies by 46% to 44%. Independents favored Romney by one point in April and seven in May.

Unlike "Maverick" McCain, Romney has not yet pandered to the liberals. Thats good. They aren't voting for Romney no matter what he does, so..... fuck 'em.

The biggest gripe the moderates and independants had with McCain in 2008 was that they didn't like his running mate. The second biggest complaint they had with McCain is that they didn't think he was very smart, particularly about the economy. I haven't heard one complaint from any independant or moderate on Romney's competency regarding economics, not one.

At this point, the worst thing Romney could do is fuck up his VP selection. If he plays it safe and picks a sane candidate who is at least semi-intelligent about the Federal government and foreign affairs, then WMR is in really good shape for November.

I don't mind the word "white" in either of those expressions [white supremacy or white nationalism]. Conservatism is a white people's movement, a scattering of outliers notwithstanding.

Always has been, always will be. I have attented at least a hundred conservative gatherings, conferences, cruises, jamborees: let me tell you, there ain't too many raisins in that bun. I was in and out of the National Review offices for twelve years, and the only black person I saw there, other than when Herman Cain came calling, was Alex, the guy who runs the mail room.

This isn't because conservatism is hostile to blacks and mestizos. Very much the contrary, especially in the case of Conservatism Inc. They fawn over the occasional nonwhite with a puppyish deference that fairly fogs the air with embarrassment. (Q: What do you call the one black guy at a gathering of 1,000 Republicans? A: "Mr. Chairman.")

It's just that conservative ideals like self-sufficiency and minimal dependence on government have no appeal to underperforming minorities -- groups who, in the statistical generality, are short of the attributes that make for group success in a modern commercial nation.

So there you have it. Derbyshire is embarrassed about how conservatives trot out the Sowells and Steeles in a losing cause...negroes will never embrace conservatism because, as an underperforming minority, they can't hack it. Better to just let conservatism be exclusive to white's of European ancestry - to wear the white supremist 'insult', as he puts it.

Romney has never pandered to liberals? HA. He didn't have to - he WAS a liberal, especially on abortion, gun control and government-run health care. He probably still is deep down. Nobody really knows for sure except Romney and the pollsters who determine his positions on social issues.

But as totally unreliable as Romney is on social issues, I agree that he is a totally reliable ally to the Big Business Republicans. He'll flip flop on everything else, but he will help the rich get richer until his dying breath.

FoxNews Shows Obama with 7 Point Lead

President Obama tops Republican Mitt Romney in a head-to-head matchup, according to the latest Fox News poll, which finds American voters feeling more positive about the economy.

Obama would have an advantage of 46 percent to 39 percent over Romney, if the election were held today. Three weeks ago the candidates were tied at 46 percent each.

The national poll, released Wednesday, shows the president’s lead is just outside the poll’s margin of sampling error.
