Re: Ostensibly Hoops
What was the combined lifetime salary of Barry Bonds vs the combined lifetime salary of Rocket or Schilling?
(actually, just took 20 seconds to look it up...I expected Roger to have made more than Barry, or at least have been closer)

Then, again, if I was playing for my beloved Pirates, I would be lucky to make 8 figures...

If you were an elite pitcher, you'd play wherever you wanted...at the salary you wanted, though.

I'd still say Home Run Hitter (with a decent batting average). Look at the long term deals given out today. $20-25 mil guaranteed till you are 40? I could eat like a king, fuck like chamberlain and stand around 1st base for the last 5 years of the deal. (or be a pussy DH)

I would say a hockey goaltender is the choice that provides the most longevity
If no one comes from the future to stop you from doing it, then how bad of a decision can it really be?

the local D-II school started women's golf this year. the top 2 players, one from Spain and the other from California, shoot in the mid 80s. the other 2 were shooting 130-140 in their first few matches. of course those were the first golf rounds they'd played. Ever. And they both got scholarship money. love that Title IX.

see that is what I thought but not locally for my girl based on what the coach said
anyways, she starts golf lessons next week with a PGA pro, Junior League with 6 matches begins in July and then team play starts August 11.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Hockey Player or Stone Cold Steve Austin level of popularity professional wrestler.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
lol Ok, seriously now. My son and many of his friends bowled through their youth to age 20 and received scholarship money for various accomplishments. Merely being on a team garnered them prize scholarship money. He started the program in his freshman year and ended up with around $4,000. If he had started in his junior high years, obviously, the total would be higher. I know this isn't full ride scholarships we're talking about, but this is just another way an athlete can help their college finances.eCat wrote:I've had 3 people tell me bowling now. Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I guess it's not cool to be a bowler as it's been made fun of on this board, but it's rather popular in my area. I myself bowl. My son has had 9 300s and holds the city youth record for high series of 821. National tournaments for adults are big. My son competed in one in March in Baton Rouge. I guess it's where you live.
