1. I wonder if this is why the North Korean missile launch failed:

2. Liberal women have always despised stay at home Moms. Remember Hillary Clinton's famous "staying home and baking cookies" comment? But they are usually better at concealing their disdain than Hillary Rosen was.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
I think he wants all those stories to take everyone's attention off the issues that actually matter: economy, deficit, debt and unemployment. Anything that distracts from these issues is a winner for Obama.
Anyway, he's got nothing to worry about. Unless something huge changes the current picture, his reelection is in the bag.

"Barack Obama made an uncharacteristic error, more akin to those of his predecessor George W Bush, by referring to the Falkland Islands as the Maldives. "
Poor W. I don't think he's even been to all 57 or so states.

The story is not the gaffe but the uncharcteristic comparison to another idiot. (albeit a damn good arab killer)

Uncharacteristic, my ass. Obama has proven himself to be almost as gaffe-prone as Dubya. Not that you would ever get that impression by watching the media coverage of the two.

Speech-a-fying-wise, oprama has a gaffe rate of 20-1 (1 gaffe per 20 speeches). Bill Clinton was better at 25-1.
Dubya, otoh, at 1-2 (two gaffes per speech) broke every milestone in recorded history for public-speaking mistakes by world leaders. Second place went to the stuttering King George VI of Britain.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
Bush's gaffes were funnier than Obama's. Remember when Obama said the courts had no business overturning a law passed by the Congress and signed by the President? Not funny at all.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
One reason Bush's gaffes weren't that big a deal was they were typical of his meager rhetorical skills. He always had a hard time constructing an understandable sentence even on one of his better days.
Obama's gaffes should be a bigger deal since he is usually an excellent speaker, as long as he has a teleprompter. He still makes educated white women swoon.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
Bush would get into the middle of a sentence and then you would get the sense that he was listening to the words coming out of his mouth, instead of concentrating on putting them together in the right order. He just wasn't a good public speaker.
But almost anyone who spends so much of their life in the public eye is going to flub some things from time to time. It's understandable. That's why I think it was ridiculous how much emphasis the 9:1 media put on Bush's gaffes. And it's even more ridiculous when you see how they go out of their way to ignore Obama's.
