It seems many of the commenters on Ebert's blog try to outdo each other in their expressions of appreciation and awe of whatever piece it is they're commenting on. Some clown began his comment with this:

"I'm strongly considering tattooing your final paragraph on my body."

Here is the final paragraph:

"That is what death means. We exist in the minds of other people, in thousands of memory clusters, and one by one those clusters fade and disappear. Some years from now, at a funeral with a slide show, only one person will be able to say who we were. Then no one will know."

Goddamn...
I want someone's ass blistered in the middle of Thanksgiving Square.

hedge wrote:I was reading Roger Ebert's blog today, he had written a touching piece about death and how a person kinda stays alive (at least in memory) as long as somebody who knew them is still alive, but how after that last person who knew them dies, then they truly disappear from existence, except maybe as a word or name, but not as a real entity. Anyway, as usual, there were tons of "thoughtful" comments, most of which I glossed over, but then this one caught my eye:

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."

We all have our time. I often dream at night that I'm still a competetive swimmer. It's like taking a trip back in time. Then I wake up and I'm 57 years old and my playing career ended 35 years ago.

In the midst of the heartfelt tributes to Ebert's piece, another clown posted this comment:

Roger,

This is off topic.

I wondered if you could look at the following article --and specifically at the second photo of the article (living room of the late Gareth Williams) to determine if the Disney Pixar Mack truck carrying case visible on the glass table is from the movie Cars or the sequel Cars2.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... l?ITO=1490

I think the decals are identical to the Cars2 Mack Transporter as seen on the UK version of amazon

The only problem with it being Cars2 merchandise is that the movie Cars2 was released in June 2011, but Gareth Williams was found dead, stuffed into a red duffel bag in his bathtub in August 2010.

The UK Daily Mail article implies (but does not state) that the photos are from 2010. Can you find out whether the Mack Transporter in the Gareth Williams living room photo was available (for purchase in a retail store or at a Disney themepark) before his 2010 death?

Also, can you find out when the basic storyline for Cars2 was finalized? or how much was finalized by August 2010?

I ask, because (and this can be just a coincidence), at the beginning of Cars2 Leland Turbo is a red British spy car who is caught and crushed into a red cube.

Rat -- True story...I worked for a guy named Jordan one summer in college. He named his oldest son Michael, right before MJ hit the scene in Chapel Hill. Poor kid's entire life has been a lot like this commercial.

UK presser tomorrow. All 5 starters to announce. Thus ends the speculation about Lamb and MKG. No big surprise.

I think you meant to say: the dying fatass, Cro, makes the speech after tai chi on the beach, lips pursed, arms akimbo, ballsack scaffold fading into the sunset...

here's a link to a Vanderbilt fan site from a few years ago, they were still steaming twenty years later about the Tennis Ball game:

it may just be that time of the year but my facebook page is turning into about 1/3 of jilted scorned women posting stupid shit related to their divorce.

First of all, I hate all these goddamned bumper sticker sayings they post there. Just because it has a picture of a kitten or a puppy doesn't make them any less annoying and second of all, if you want to get back at your man, then go fuck somebody and quit looking for sympathy on stupid ass facebook. You don't see your man on there with a picture of a rainbow colored unicorn telling us the 5 ways a Vagina is like fast food.

Shut up already.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Circle of life. My feed is filled with pictures of people at weddings.

My cousin just got engaged. They seem like the type that might have a relatively long engagement, but they are the last bullet to dodge for idiots scheduling weddings on a football weekend this fall so I just know they are gonna pick the LSU/A&M game weekend.
