That's what I'm doing with Ireland. When we go single payer, I'm going to wherever the waiting times are shorter. She did that because she wanted to game the system (never wanting to give up her US citizenship BUT wanting the ability to go to Canada and get her government paid healthcare of which she paid nothing into, but was entitled to since she was a Canadian)...
First fiancee was BPD so (to her) the whole world simply revolved around her. Nothing else mattered except her own personal comforts. I'm sure she knew the law and would have just moved to Canada, filled out whatever paperwork she needed with the provincial government of New Brunswick, and just "waited" at her mom's house for 6 months for her free surgery. There was no way this woman was working, no way. She was functionally incapable of working a job. That is why she preferred living in the States. There is more things for the indigent leeches to do. All she could do in the Maritimes is drink beer, go to bingo, play her guitar, and shiver in the cold.Professor Tiger wrote:That's what I'm doing with Ireland. BTW, those with dual citizenship with Canada, and are planning to go there if they need free medical treatment, are in for a rude surprise. Canadian law says that, even if you are a Canadian citizen, you have to live there for six consecutive months immediately preceding accessing their health care system. I know somebody who learned that the hard way.
you just have to maintain a canadian address and come back twice a yearProfessor Tiger wrote:That's what I'm doing with Ireland. If Obama gets a Dem House and Senate to work with, we'll have single payer by the end of his second term.innocentbystander wrote:The US could never go single-payer. Ever. Single-payer only works in the rest of the civlized world, because the United States doesn't have it. Basically, every other health care system that is single payer, is leech off of the United States for-profit, free market healthcare system.
Once the US goes single-payer, the rest of the world's single-payer health care systems, are fucked.
