Why should we give a care about BB? It's not like we have a pulse either.

Bama doesn't have friends in the media. Discuss.

Bama doesn't have friends in the media. Discuss.
Bama Alum Danny Sheridan says he has a "secret source" in the NCAA that proves Auburn paid Cam Newton, and he is ready to "name the bagman" as soon as his lawyer "gives him permission" and it makes national headlines for a week.

But widely circulated photos of Alabama players signing jerseys in front of the clothing rack where they are "FOR SALE," in blatant violation of NCAA rules, yet not a peep from the state media or national media or NCAA.

Priceless.

P,yaam. The memorabilia wasn't sold, it was displayed. Obviously, no Bama player received any money or benefit, or had any knowledge of the use of those items for anything which would violate an NCAA rule. I've heard that somewhere before.

SBB, OTK... AL.com... LMAO. Still not a single peep from BSPN, SI, or any other real national sports news outlets. If there were pictures of Auburn players doing what Alabama players were doing, it would be the front page on the national sports news for the past 6 months.

Nice try. Here's the NCAA rule:
NCAA bylaw 12.5.2.1 states: “an individual shall not be eligible for participation in intercollegiate athletics if the individual permits the use of his or her name or picture to promote directly the sale or use of a commercial product or service of any kind.” (Page 74.)
http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/tag/t_town_menswear

So, assuming for the sake of argument that the autographed sports paraphernalia was only "displayed" and not "for sale," and also assuming that the players did not profit from the autographed paraphernalia, it makes no difference. The pictures show that the sports paraphernalia, autographed by Alabama football players, was used to "promote directly the sale or use of a commercial product" of one Tom's T-Town Menswear. There's really no denying that.

And according to the above NCAA rule, players who do that "shall not be eligible for participation in intercollegiate athletics." But the players who were photographed violating the above rule included the pivotal players on Bama's 2009 Championship team. And if the NCAA followed their own rule, those players would be declared ineligible. If that happened, then the games they played in, including the whole MNC season, would be vacated. But we all know that will never happen.

If those were players from Auburn or any other program other than Alabama, they/we would already be on heavy duty probation and any championships would have been invalidated. But these are Bama players, and therefore they can break whatever rules they want with impunity. The NCAA has their back.

Pull up the SEC rule that says any player or representative who accepts or agrees to accept payment or benefits above a scholorship from anyone other than people he would normally rely on loses all eligibility. You know, knowledge or not? Perhaps AA even bought the Mike Dyer autographed helmet and football from e-Bay, and the pic of him signing them.

What SEC rule is that? I quoted the NCAA rule.

But if you've got pictures of Mike Dyer (and a dozen other Auburn football players) all signing footballs and helmets in Bobby Lowder's bank lobby, right in front of display cases full of said autographed footballs and helmets, all promoting Bobby Lowder's business, then you will have a violation.

Mike Dyer can sign all the footballs and helmets he wants and give them away to the public. If they wind up on e-bay, and AA buys one, that's not promoting a booster's business, and therefore not an NCAA rule violation.

http://www.secdigitalnetwork.com/Footba ... ility.aspx
According to facts of the case agreed upon by Auburn University and the NCAA enforcement staff, the student-athlete’s father and an owner of a scouting service worked together to actively market the student-athlete as a part of a pay-for-play scenario in return for Newton’s commitment to attend college and play football. NCAA rules (Bylaw 12.3.3) do not allow individuals or entities to represent a prospective student-athlete for compensation to a school for an athletic scholarship.
And that's from the SEC, so, it's the light version I imagine.

Bon is apparently on extended sabbatical. It is up to me to fight the good fight and keep the faith. Just like you are doing without AA. They'll both show up eventually.

Reaching? To see the exploits of Updyke, Downing and Megaskeet, you don't need youtube. You just need ESPN. These stories are so outrageous that even the mighty REC couldn't tamp them down.
