Just got my appraisal on a rental property I bought last year...the appraiser had to send some kind of compliance report to Freddie Mac(header below)....couldn't help but belly laugh at the pompous irony.

Even the Europeans and Canadians are befuddled over our environmental regulations...

She has never been.

Used miles to get out there (160k miles for first for two tix).

Booked a room at the cosmopolitan. She wants to go see friggin shows and of course walk through all the other hotels. She isn't much of a gambler other than slots. I've only been once and didn't do any table gambling, but was in the sportsbook 24/7 during 2007 ncaa tourny.

I'd like to play some craps this time.

Could someone tell me wtf happened to Oprama and his "Manhattan" style project for energy?

The one damned thing I agreed with him on and there has been no action on it at all.

Oh and FTR...if we had started on ANWR in 2001 as we should have we would have been getting 500k to 1 million barrels a day since 2008 and for the next 25-50 years.

Craps rules - stick to the safest bets and at worst you will break even and you can get on some really nice runs - just dont piss away too much $ chasing long odds.

I can never figure out craps. I just hang around the black jack table and die a slow death over the course of 5 hours. Much cheaper than seeing a show...and more fun.

Amen Brother Delicious. When you got a hot table, Craps can be your biggest money maker without doing a damn thing.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

That is what I've read. I need to see if they have a class in the morning on craps.

I've read up on it and downloaded some game apps on the ipad.

Just playing around it would seem you all and the web are correct. Slow and steady with the pass line. Need to understand the max odds or whatever that further reduces the house edge.

When a pt is established do you guys add a come line bet, or do you just stick to a single pass line bet and the max odds thing (place)? Do you vary your bet at all? Just curious.

So you don't recommend putting a grand on boxcars 30-1? Heh

I'd be embarassed to list all the things I have bet on after hours of free drinks!!!

I do pass line - back up w/ odds - and place bet 6 and 8 if they aren't the point. If 6 or 8 is the point I back up all they will let me - if its another # I back up just not as much.

Lots of books etc say to add come line bet but I have rarely seen people doing it and I dont like to do it myself. After I get 6,8 and another # covered w/ the point I figure thats good enough.

Any good casino will have a morning class and they will tell you different strategies - just figure out what you are comfortable w/ and roll with it.

I have played the come line bet for $5 b4 and done it lots of time on computer apps - and never seemed to make much $ doing it.

The South used to be automatically Democrat and after the 60's, automatically Republicans. The times they are a-changing.
The South didn't change at all. What changed was the parties. Up until the 60's, the Democrat party in the South was very conservative, while the Republican party was not. After the 60's, the Democrats veered way to the left, and the Republicans became the home of the new religious right. The South remained conservative throughout, and probably will for a long time to come.

What MAY change, IMHO, is the Republican Party's relationship with the South. Before the ascendance of the religious right, the GOP was the party by Big Business and for Big Business. All they wanted was an economic environment that helped millionaires become billionaires. They could care less about cultural issues like God, guns, national defense, personal liberty, abortion and gays. These old school Rockefeller Republicans were quite content to lose elections and be the second rate party behind the Democrats because they could usually get their agenda despite their minority status. The old Rockefeller Republicans are still alive and well and are now what we call the GOP Establishment. They will use their money to ramrod the Romney's, the McCain's, the Dole's and the Bush Sr's to the nomination because these guys are reliable allies to help them make more money.

But the South only became reliable to the GOP when the GOP was reliable to them on cultural issues. If the Establishment keeps nominating RINO's, the South will no longer flock to GOP candidates. Give a Southerner a choice between a leftist democrat and a mushy moderate republican, the Southerner will probably stay home. But one thing that will never happen in our lifetimes is a mass conversion of Southerners to the Democrat party. Any more than San Francisco will flock to the Republican party any time soon.

The South is still not as urban as the North and Great Lakes. Urban populations inevitably become more liberal. Like it or not, as southern cities grow, they are likely to be less conservative. You yourself already pointed out that Northern Virginia is significantly more liberal than it was even 30 years ago.

A lot of the fastest growing parts of the South are filling up due to transplanted Yankees and immigrants, not Jesse Helms Old South vanguards.

Dunno about a nuclear Renaissance but the first nuclear permit in over 30 years was issued last week.

Some yanks come south and maintain their liberalness, some, not so much....the emergence of the black middle class over the past 30-40 years has had more to do w/the liberalization of the urban south than what DSL's profs told him.

A lot of Yankees and immigrants who move South go native. Once they get a taste of paying lower taxes, keeping the money for themselves, and spending it on things they want, they like it. If they run a business, they appreciate being able to make decisions without running it past a union or state environmental regulators. After all, they moved South for a reason, and it's usually economic. If they wanted to replicate California or Detroit, they would have stayed in California or Detroit.

And besides, southern cities are already pretty liberal. The high percentage of blacks in all southern cities ensure that.

if you got 3-4 hours usually some good fun pl,aying poker torunements. I played a omaha tourney at one of the older casinos--flamingo? which i took a cab to. but if you google las vegas tourneys and enter anywhere from 20-100 buck there is usualkly a holdem ourney somewhere that you can have a few hours fun at minimal cost. we stayed at bellagio for 159 last time I was there. lots of friendly people out on the streets that will give you playing cards with phone numbers and pictures on them too.

Socially, they may be more liberal, but economically they are conservative. They are usually entrepeneurial and that's what drives them down here. Trust me, North Carolina is fiscally conservative and getting more so each day.
