Dodd-Frank makes it difficult for smaller local banks to stay in business. Gives the bigs more power.

Difference is that banks have the ability to pay it back and GM doesn't. I'm ok with making the banks pay if the funds are set in a fund for future bailouts, but not for general budget.

Yeah, but you know that would never happen. At best, the fund would be raided with a series of IOUs inside of it...much like states currently do with their pension requirements.

GM just posted an annual profit of $7.6B. That wont be very far off the number that the big banks show for 2011.

It's all political though, a bank earns that and its all going to line the pcokets of greedy assholes in highrise condos while GM is carefully putting that money aside for hard earned pensions earned by true americans (nevermind that far more Americans probably work in white collar jobs dependent on banks and the financial industry in general)

They will not make that in the years ahead. They are thanking God for the tsunami giving them a jolt in sales this year, but they still have cost issues. My opinion, they were better off going to Chap 11 so they could restructure labor and pension costs to a more competitive level.
