Yeah. She did for a few weeks. She signed a modeling contract and left campus, iirc.

I really don't need to go much further (but I easily could) in the cause for questioning the talent-evaluation acumen of the NBA's check writers.

"Tayshaun has had a bigger impact on games than Dunleavy, Jr. By a mile."

By a mile? They've both had solid careers at best, Prince has been on the better team, but he's never been the man or even the second option. He's always been a stalwart for the Pistons, but the 3rd option at best and usually 4th or 5th. Even though he was a better offensive player than Ben Wallace, Wallace was by far a more impactful player for the Pistons in his prime. Prince has been a solid, dependable cog in the Pistons' wheel. Dunleavy played a similar role in the (granted) shittier teams that he played for. He was never going to be the player that took any team over the top, nor was Prince. The amazing thing to me is that players of that type are evidently worth multi-millions a year, but that's another issue.

And yes, stats don't tell the whole story, but there's no way a guy whose career averages are 12.9 ppg/4.6 rpg is anything more than a role player, and that applies to both Dunleavy and Prince in almost equal proportion. And don't forget that Prince racked up his breathtaking career stats while averaging 5 minutes per game more than Dunleavy, which is why Dunleavy's per 36 minutes stats are better than Prince's. His best year was significantly better than Prince's, too. But neither one of them is ever going to get more than a nod and an acknowledgment that he was a nice player in any conversation about them, which conversation, in final proof of their respective statuses, is only likely to ever take place in here, b/c nobody else is ever going to talk about either of them...

Pointing out the exceptions doesn't prove the rule. Quite the contrary. Prince and Dunleavy are virtually the same type of player in terms of production they have been paid virtually the same salary. When teams role the dice and go all in on some dream of a superstar, they sometimes fuck up. When it comes to the yeomen who make up the vast majority of the "solid stater" class, they're pretty much on the money....

But let's talk about something far more important than the relative value of either Dunleavy or Prince: Those grey unis UK is sporting aren't terrible...

Well, ESPN player-ranked Prince 105. Dunleavy 141. FWIW.

Maybe it's not a mile, but I don't know of anyone (besides you and maybe some other Heels fans...and the Dunleavy family) who would take MDJr above Prince...or who wouldn't even trade a pick to move up and get Prince instead of settling for MDJr, if there was a rookie draft re-do.

Granted my affiliation with NBA talent scouts/management isn't vast...but it ain't nil.

Prince as been more consistent player

DUn Jr had one year he avg 19 and then up and down after that

Prince as avg over 30 minutes every season except rookie year on one team

DUn as played for 3 teams and only avg 30 minutes 5 times. There is a reason why Prince is playing more minutes on better teams, he is the better player.

The NBA landscape is littered with players who are under performing their contracts & their draft positions
If no one comes from the future to stop you from doing it, then how bad of a decision can it really be?

Prince is marginally better than Dunleavy, in pretty much the same way that Gordon's gin is marginally better than Seagram's. But neither of them are going to be mistaken for Bombay Sapphire or even Tanqueray or Beefeaters. They are what they are, solid starter-caliber NBA players who have each earned more than $50 million in their careers. I think Prince made the allstar team once and he does have a ring. And he is a marginally better player than Dunleavy, a rating made more acute by Dunleavy's much higher draft status and Prince's slightly too low draft spot. So of course you look at them and say "Damn, the 19th pick was better than the second pick, the second pick must suck!" They basically both should've been drafted in the teens. If Prince had been the #2 pick he would be considered a borderline bust based on that, just as Dunleavy has. But disregarding draft status and just looking at their career production, they've both been solid players with Prince being slightly better...

first the helms title nonsense and now this. UNC is the most insecure program in the nation. You guys claims 49 All Americans. From Catspause....

"I was doing some college basketball research this morning, and I had a chance to take a look at the current 2011-12 North Carolina Yearbook (media guide). This is an official publication from the University of North Carolina Athletics, by the way.

Anyway, in their section on "All Americans", they list players named "honorable mention" in their total. That's hilarious, as the very definition of being named "honorable mention" is that you got close, but didn't quite make it.

For future reference, here are the players merely named "honorable mention" that UNC tries to use to inflate their total:

George Lynch
Derrick Phelps
Ademola Okulaja
Ed Cota
Wayne Ellington"
