Re: Crashcourse's NASCAR and Manning > Brady Regurgitation
It's the only smart business decision the Colts can make. I am excited to see where Peyton goes, assuming he ever plays again, of course.
Deep thought of the day: "I was adopted. I thank my birth mother every day for not aborting me (although I wouldn't doubt her decision if she did)."

I actually heard one of the talking heads on ESPN this morning say that Tom Brady is over-rated. I predict we'll hear more of that sentiment, particularly if his TEAM fails to win the big game this time around.
It will be particularly gratifying to start seeing people come to the light.

I just don't get all the controversey here. Peyton is a better regular season QB. Brady is a better playoff QB. Who is better overall? That is a matter of opinion. I happen to think more weight should be placed on the post-season...but that's just me.

that's been my point all along. yet for some reason, Hack thinks replying with 'ever more regular season stats' somehow counters that argumentTHE_WIZARD_ wrote:I just don't get all the controversey here. Re: Crashcourse's NASCAR and Manning > Brady Regurgitation
My problem is that when I ask what makes Brady better than Peyton, people invariably say his 3 SB rings. But that's the answer to a different question. That's the answer to the question, "What proves that New England has been a better team over the past decade than the Colts?" Great TEAMS win SBs. That's why so many TEAMS have won SBs with QBs that nobody would ever argue is among the greatest QBs to ever play the game.
I'm happy to look at the playoff stats of both guys (which, BTW, proves the lie that Brady has been so much better than Peyton in the playoffs). But I think it's wrong to throw out all the other evidence and just look at SB wins.
Peyton has been a one-man team. Brady has been an important piece of a very good overall TEAM. The better TEAM will naturally go further and be more successful in the playoffs, where the competition is better. These are really very simple concepts that most people have no problem understanding.

There's naturally a lot of speculation around here on where Peyton will end up. Lately there's a lot of steam about the possibility of PM being a 49er. Alex Smith's poor showing in the NFCCG coupled with the fact that Smith is at the end of his contract certainly makes it plausible.
I've never been a niner fan or really ever given them much thought before. This whole new-scenerio thing is kinda fun...unexpected, but fun.

Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

which, in hindsight, makes the whole weeklong media discussion after the Saints game quite laughable that 'Alex Smith has now proved himself / been vindicated'.bluetick wrote:There's naturally a lot of speculation around here on where Peyton will end up. 1. SF...
2. DC
3. Miami
4. Seattle (doubtful)
5. TN (doubtful)
If it is D.C., I would like to be first to welcome rickart into the Manning extended family.

Peyton will be cut and then the courtships begin.
I say it will be jets.
If he's smart he will play for a dollar (unless must be league minimum), and leave rest of money for team needs.

How's not signing a player that guarantees you get to the playoffs a good business decision?Hacksaw wrote:It's the only smart business decision the Colts can make. I am excited to see where Peyton goes, assuming he ever plays again, of course.

After all, he is a one man team. Hell, he could turn the Rams into Super Bowl contenders next year.

Re: Crashcourse's NASCAR and Manning > Brady Regurgitation
Did you really just use the word guarantee? Manning has had 3 neck surgeries and there's no guarantee that he will ever play again. That and the fact that the Colts have a chance to draft the biggest can't-miss QB prospect in years means they have no choice. If they had a crystal ball and knew Peyton would be 100% when he came back, then there's no question they would keep him. But there's no such thing as a crystal ball and $28 million is too big a gamble when you've got Luck waiting in the wings.sardis wrote:How's not signing a player that guarantees you get to the playoffs a good business decision?Hacksaw wrote:It's the only smart business decision the Colts can make. I bet you would they would make a huge improvement and be in playoff contention.Jungle Rat wrote:After all, he is a one man team. Hell, he could turn the Rams into Super Bowl contenders next year.
I mean really. The only real difference between this year and last year with the colts was manning being gone.
8 game difference without Manning, yet you say it would have been that way if he was healthy and had played?
Riiiiight.
