What a roller coaster ride: Osama bin Laden engaged the SEALs in a firefight. Well, no, actually, it turns out he didn’t. But he did seize a woman, probably one of his wives, to use as a human shield. Uh, well, actually he didn’t do that, either. But he was armed, we know that for sure. Ummm, no, not really. OK, but we’re positive that woman was killed. Uh, not exactly. But we definitely, positively, absolutely know that Osama is dead. We have the photographs to prove it and the public can see them. Er, no, not quite. The president has them but you can’t see them. Everybody will just have to take his word for it.

I don't think it was a lie. Most of the wrong info came out before our troops were back in Virgina Beach to tell us what exactly happened.

I also doubt it was a lie. Frankly, I was suspicious of some of the early details right from the get-go. Seems like there are always sources inside the government who are friendly with journalists and don't really know as much as they want people to think they know. Juicy details emerge quickly and then turn out to be inaccurate. The important thing is that Bin Laden is dead. We got him. That's all that matters.

I wasn't commenting on how it happened. I don't care if he threw his hands up and begged to be arrested.

Its more the changing story just because they wanted to get it out so fast.

The ideal thing would have been to just make everyone in that house disappear and get it out without anyone knowing and no leaks to the press to give time to look at the disk drives and get other people before they were spooked by the story. Of course easier said than done.
