I like how all the proponents of the "+1" or 4 team playoff conveniently ignore that such a system wouldnt have worked ONLY TWO SEASONS AGO. In 2009 we had 5 undefeated teams, and the one that would have got left out beat one of the top 4 in their bowl game.

That doesn't happen very often. This year there was one undefeated team going into the bowls.
2010: 3
2008: 2
2007: 1 (10th ranked Hawaii)
2006: 2
2005: 2

5 undefeated teams appears to be like Halley's Comet.


I am very much against a playoff that awards Arkansas State a spot because they went 9-4 and won the Sun Belt (or Central Michigan in the MAC, etc, etc).
