Re: SEC - Conference Discussion
The SEC can only control what happens on the field. Polls are influenced by the personal biases, resentment and deep feelings of inadequacy of non-SEC fans. That's the only reason why a team like Oklahoma State can ever be mentioned in comparison to a team like Arkansas.
This is why the BCS, imperfect as it is, has been so much better than the old system. We SEC fans have known for decades that our conference was superior to the rest of the college football world. Still, we had to listen to silliness about the "Big" Ten/Eleven, the "Big" 8/12, the SWC and the Pac 8/10. The BCS has put a halt to all of that nonsense.
Of course, we still have weak excuse-making and pettiness when it comes to the rankings and awards. Oklahoma State?! Puh-leez.

Oklahoma St beat us better than Arkie. We should have beaten Arkie but, Ok State fumbled another sure TD untouched through the endzone and we never had a lead late like we did vs Arkie.

Okie State beat the Ags worse, but Arkie beat KState worse. Push. And the Aggies were working hard to invent new ways to blow leads.

My point was merely that its hard to hold "they really should have lost to Texas A&M" as a point against oSu as happened above, when arguing for Arkansas who did the same thing.

You are not starting off on the right foot here.aTm wrote:Oklahoma St beat us better than Arkie. We should have beaten Arkie but, Ok State fumbled another sure TD untouched through the endzone and we never had a lead late like we did vs Arkie.

You might have a point if that was the only argument in Arky's favor. Again, get on board. You'll soon learn that we're very big on loyalty.

I was really arguing more from the side that their exclusion from the title game was righteous, kosher, sacrosanct, ordained, appropriate, and obvious.

Alright, I assumed it was a part of the will/should Arkie jump to #3 argument.

But if Arkie and Okie Lite had played, a Hog win would not surprise me at all. It would probably be a very close game and could go either way.

That's fairly close for most recent SEC / Big XII match ups.

Living only 30 miles from Clemson, talk radio has been crazy talk these days. They are trying to convince people that it is now offense that win championships. I'm having to turn it off just about every day!
Stop the RUN!

BSpur, between the Cocks' historic season and the schadenfreude that is the result of Clemson's stumbling, I am sure that your football season was spectacular.

Don't know who is going to win tonight, but I bet the difference is going to be at least 10 points

My gut says LSU. I expect Bama to play better, but I think LSU will step up their game, too. Should be a good one.

Re: SEC - Conference Discussion
So I missed the email that says my 10 year old can come to school wearing LSU clothes instead of his uniform. He reminds me late last night. Look in the house, despite living in Baton Rouge for 9 years, there is not 1 piece of LSU clothing that has ever been in the house, not even by his 17 year old brother and this despite the fact that my wife is a prof at LSU (she has absolutely no interest in sports).
Get up early, feed the 10 year, run to Walmart, the only LSU stuff left is an XL and a woman's blouse. NO WAY. come home, iron a yellow shirt for the son and some jeans. Not enough though. Run to RiteAid, they're out. Go across the street to Walgreens, found a mediium, too big, but workable. Get home, get the shirt on, tuck it in, race to school to get him there between the prescribed time of 8 and 8:15. I'm SUPERDAD again.
The funny thing, my son doesn't care about the game at all (neither does his brother), he just wanted the opportunity not to wear his uniform.
