Re: Tennessee Volunteers
I'm not familiar with any of the coaches mentioend on the list as possible DC for Tennessee. Going by the descriptions, I'm liking the sound of Tyrone Nix though.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Hudson's a good one and you'd do well to pick him up. He built a very solid defense at ECU and as LB coach at FSU, has helped recruit and develop a lot of players. Nigel Bradham, for example, was considered a 5-star bust 2 years ago but really turned things around, especially this year.
Everyone around the FSU camp expects Mark Stoops, the current DC, to be a head coach by the end of next year and Hudson to take over. And we welcome it.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
I had heard Shannon declined. After the Clemson performance in the latter half of the season, I think Vol Nation would revolt if Steele were chosen. IMHO, Dooley is gone after this year (barring a miracle) so it's going to be hard to find a biggish name to come in with so much uncertainty.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
I think Dooley has a breakout year in 2012. Tennessee returns 17 of the starting 22 iirc.

I think Dooley has two more years at least. Anybody that knows football knows POS Scumbag killed our program. Dooley had nothing to work with.

That's a bit of a harsh way to talk about Fulmer.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Dooley and UT need to make a big score with the new DC. Shannon-esq. Somebody who will draw big-time players as well as coach'em up and scheme them.
And people around here need to shut it wrt Chavis. One (and 2 and 3), he ain't coming back here because he's bitter about his and Phil's departure. He'll coach for The Hat (and The Hat's treasure chest of talent) a few more years and then take it to the house.
Chief did some great work here, but it wasn't always a bed of roses. He coached a lot better with the Al Wilsons and John Hendersons than he did with the lesser lights of '03 - '08.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
So do we have a DC yet?
You've got to wonder what this is doing to recruiting.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
The Shannon rumors are still going strong. A popular theory is that we are waiting until Monday to announce it, so it will be reported during all of the BCS title game coverage and create more buzz for the media and hype for potential recruits. If so, then I think its a good idea.
I'd guess that if nothing is announced Monday, then the Shannon rumors are untrue and its anybody's guess who the next DC will be.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Why would a UT announcement about a coach have any effect on the BCS Championship buzz? It's just UT.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
He said he hopes Shannon is hired and its mentioned qute a bit during the BCS Championship talk shows. If it's mentioned a lot, then new recruits will pick up on it and [hopefully] help us land some.

Since you are in the habit of making wishes that won't happen, how about wishing for a billion dollars to suddenly appear in my bank account? Ah to heck with it... I'll be happy with "just" a million.Hacksaw wrote:Get out Rat you stink!
