I've been spot on regarding my most highly expected Bowl games. I thought the Baylor game would be a barn burner, the Ducks v Wisky game would be just as potent and that the Natl Championship game would be just as good (and higher scoring) than the first time.

I didn't realize UGA v MSU would be as good as it was, but I should have considering their proximity in ranking.

You're 2013 (hell, maybe even end of 2012 depending on what Bowl game they are in) Bearcats head coach.

Mark Richt took idiocy to a whole new level. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he's decided that the "good football" thing to do on a last second field goal (I guess because other teams have done it in situations where that concept actually applied) is to kick it on 3rd down so that if anything happens you get another shot.

He completely ignored the fact that he's looking at a 40+ yard kick and any mishap is going to result in an almost unmakeable 50+ yard attempt. Then to top it off, he also used another late game "good football" play and centered the ball, but on 2nd down (because he knew he had to kick on 3rd down). try thinking about things a little bit before you get in that situation next time.

Driving back from Austin through Houston yesterday, one of the conversations on Foxsports radio was how uninterested the country was in the BCS championship this year. Very little buzz outside of Alabama and Louisiana this year.

SEC dominance is doing that.

At least most years they can hope a team will beat the SEC representative

I think the ratings will be fine. The sexy thing to do is to talk about how disinterested you are in the game. I don't buy it. Would it carry the same ratings as Notre Dame-SoCal in the NC game? No, but it'll do okay.

says the Alabama fan in defense. I'm not talking about the ratings (let's see what else is on that night), but the talk around the game.

Not so much "defense" as disagreement. Personally, I don't care if I'm the only one watching it. I don't get paid if their ratings are high or if no one talks about it.

It's just that I've heard a lot of buzz that there isn't much buzz for the game. I don't buy it. Hell, there has been a ton of talk since the week before Selection Sunday. Tons of it. The talk has all centered around whether Alabama 'deserved' to go or how unfair it was for LSU to be "forced" to play the SECCG while Bama was 'in the clubhouse'.

Now, if the question isn't about ratings and we limit the buzz that counts to X's and O's, then I would be in agreement that we haven't had much "buzz".

I expect it to be a very good game, personally.

The SEC Chancellor tried to keep this from happening, but he got shot down. So now, suck it, every other conference.

SEC Chancellor tried to keep this from happening,
What did he do??? I'd think he'd be very much in support of a SEC versus SEC game

I'll see if I can find the link, but he proposed a playoff system back in 2006 or 2008 and it got shot down in a vote. Since then, the SEC has put out 4 or 5 straight National Champions. If his plan was inacted, this scenario would probably not be happening between LSU and Roll Tide.

2009, iirc.

The ACC and BigXII turned it down, I believe.

It was 2008...
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- Saying the BCS was in an "unprecedented state of health," ACC commissioner John Swofford announced Wednesday that college football will not change the way it determines its national champion as it prepares to begin negotiations for future television contracts that will probably run through the 2014 season.

"We will move forward in the next cycle with the current format," said Swofford, who serves as BCS chairman. "I believe the BCS has never been healthier in its first decade."

The decision, made during a five-hour meeting of 11 conference commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Kevin White at an ocean-front hotel here, wasn't unexpected. Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said earlier this week that he remained opposed to the plus-one format, which would have seeded the top four teams in the final BCS standings and match them in two semifinal games and the winners playing in a national title game.

SEC commissioner Mike Slive made the plus-one proposal Wednesday morning but said there was little support among the commissioners. In fact, Slive said only he and Swofford showed much desire in seriously pushing forward the proposal.

"There isn't support among the commissioners at this point to move forward with this proposal as we move into the next cycle," Slive said. "There's no doubt in my mind that the discussions had value and it's important that we know exactly what we're going to do with the next cycle."

That was about as good a trifecta of bowl games yesterday as we're likely to see in a single day...

I only saw about 10 min. of the Fiesta Bowl before I fell asleep on the sunroom couch so I guess I wasn't very likely to see it at all.
