Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Go Vols has a bit on the news conference here:
http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2012/jan ... ess-ahead/
From the sound of things, a new DC hasn't been hired. It also appears we don't have a candidate yet.
I found the comments about Darick and Bray to be disturbing. I recalled hearing something about possible acidemic problems with DaRick Rogers. Dooley said flat out there is nothing wrong with him and all appears to be well. However, he also touched on something had never heard before: there is a chemistry problem between Bray and Rogers. He said there is no problem between them and all appears to be fine.
I'm not feeling good.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Dooley said that everything is on course. Program in a better position now than last year at this time. Worst is behind us. Future is bright. January is always the hardest time of the year for any coach, fans. Transition is normal and gives us an opportunity to get better. He has talked to the recruits and he doesn't expect it to hurt recruiting. Implied that Khalid Henderson and maybe Imani Cross had grade issues and new rules make taking such recruits too big of a gamble. Not going to rush the search for replacement coaches. Lots of good coaches are interested. Said Jay Graham has been a great hire.
He has been in close contact with players and coaches and said everyone is on board and confidence is high about next season. Someone asked about Da'Rick and he seemed bemused. Said Da'Rick is on the team and everything with him is fine -- the rumor mill takes on a life of its own and that reality is the only thing he's concerned with.
Said he never tried to limit Arnett, just wanted to get a chance to talk to him personally and now that he has he is okay with releasing him to wherever. He implied that Arnett's brother was behind the comments attributed to Arnett in the social media. Arnett supposedly has released comments today that back-up what Dooley is saying. Damage control spin? Maybe. But it sounded believable.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
In his first public comment in 37 days, Derek Dooley
The most bizarre thing since the LK bug-out.
Phil had little use for the local media but he always obliged them and took his medicine. Same with Johnny, same with everybody else going back to Neyland. And Pearl couldn't go 37 minutes without making some kind of comment to somebody (anybody). So it was no wonder there was a freakout factor around here...and it was building, with Arnett and the buzz about the assistants. And DD nowhere to be seen or heard.
I'm pulling hard for the guy, but he has some peculiar ways about him. Hopefully we'll look back on some of this stuff as the idiosyncrasies of a real genius.

Nobody can give the Vol football players showering lessons like Dooley. Except for maybe Sandusky.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Heh, VT just got screwed by the refs. Nice to see them on the other side of the gifts for once. Michigans coach just admitted it was a catch and he was just happy they said it wasn't LMBO.
To pour salt in the wound the kicker had a "mis step" according to the announcers and was still able to overcome it and make the FG. Problem is the "mis step" was before the ball was snapped, false start was blatantly ignored on the game winning kick.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
they ignored the kicker moving early on the "fake" field goal, and they fact that the whole offensive line was 10 plus yards down field on the catch. VT got screwed.
U*NC is the cleanest most honest athletic program on the planet. I am jealous of their deserved success, and I'm a mewling cunt.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
I couldn't believe they ruled that a no-catch -- even over-ruled the correct on-the-field ruling.
Sucks for the kid, who made a great catch.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
I'd have no problem with the call if it had been called no catch on the field. The announcers generally explain the rule ad nauseam. Maybe the replay ref should listen to it.
indisputable?

Yeah. I thought his elbow and thigh came down inbounds before the rest of him hit out.10ac wrote:I'd have no problem with the call if it had been called no catch on the field. The announcers generally explain the rule ad nauseam. Maybe the replay ref should listen to it.

Of course Beamer had his Richt moment when he went for it on 4th down and 1 with a fake punt instead of using the 6'6" 250 lb QB who was picking up short yardage with ease. STUPID. Gave up 20 yard loss instead of no gain or a 1st down fi the QB kept it.
That, Rhict 3rd down FG and Wisc thinking they could spike it with two seconds left were just retarded.
