U*NC is the cleanest most honest athletic program on the planet. I am jealous of their deserved success, and I'm a mewling cunt.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
His father was ill during his recruitment. He stated it wasn't an issue because he and his father had no relationship.
Appearances can be wrong, but from all appearances he seems to be using this to release to the media in order to force Tennessee into letting him play for Michigan State.
That's why Dooley allowed him to go to any school within 3 hours of his home that wasn't named Michigan or Michigan State.
If it really was about his dad he should be happy to play at any of the other schools in the area.
Since he has sent those messages to the media and only wants to go to MSU, which is farther away, it would seem that he is attempting to use the media and his father to get what he wants.

Just why would anyone have a problem with what Dooley did here? He offered him a complete and full release to any school within 3 hours of his father that isn't named Michigan or Michigan State. That means he doesn't have to sit out a year or anything.
Of course if his goal was to just change schools instead of be with his father he may not like that, but if it's to be with his father then he got exactly what he asked for.
Sounds like the most reasonable, fair thing to me. It's a decision that keeps him from becoming a free agent just because he didn't get the playing time he wanted or just because his position coach left/he's unhappy, but it allows him to go home and play football at the Dev 1 level if he wants to.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Do they play Michigan or Michigan State in the future? How is it that tomorrow Dooley can walk away to any other school and start tomorrow but a backup can't ? Dooley is acting like a bitch regardless of the kids motives.

No, he can't without repercussions. He will have to pay a price for that in buyouts, restrictions etc.Jungle Rat wrote:Do they play Michigan or Michigan State in the future? This kid is no different, he made a choice and his father was sick before he made that choice. Dooley has provided him an out where he doesn't have to pay the price for wanting out of his agreement and can play immediately.
If he wants to go to a school we recruit against (Michigan/MSU) then he has to pay the price for violating his agreement, no different than Dooley would have to pay the price for leaving early.

What exactly would Dooley have to pay? A buyout? Did Kiffin? Or did a USC booster?

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Some people are saying that this will hurt us in recruiting, I think the opposite is true. What does this say to future recruits? It says that we want the kind of kids who honor their commitments. It says that we want kids who are mentally tough. It says we want kids with character. It says we want you. If you don't want us, then go somewhere else and good luck to you. But if you commit to us, then know that our commitment to you will be strong. And we expect your commitment to us to be just as strong.
And it says that if you have a parent who is sick and you want to leave to be closer to them, even if the circumstances around that situation seem suspicious, we will let you out of your commitment so you can enroll and play immediately at another FBS school close to your sick parent.

I'm not sure about Dooley but until he resigns in shame for lying to the NCAA or cornholes little boys like they do in the big 10 I'll withhold judgement about his integrity.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Im not questioning his integrity, just his decision on this considering he'll bolt the second Georgia calls. If you were in a job and saw people you believed you were better than get promoted over you wouldn't you think it might be time to move on? Father situation or not, my beef is why can a coach basically transfer at will but player can't? They both signed contracts committing to the school.

This young man is a perfect example of why schollies are renewable every 4 years. Sometimes its a personality conflict. Sometimes life happens

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
Personality conflict - wants more playing time, and he thinks he's earned it.
Life - sudden illness, accident, life changing event
I dunno what happened with this young man and thats up to Dooley.

Re: Tennessee Volunteers
I get that part and I agree it's up to Dooley. I'd bet he knows a lot more about the situation than any of us do.
It was the schollies are renewable every 4 years part that perplexed me.
