I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Don't hold back 10ac.

Kiffenineninenin was an ass hat, but his offense and defense was competitive. With him still on the staff though, you'd have seen much worse from the NCAA. I'm beginning to wonder if you've hired your Shula. Sadly for Vol fans, you'll know in another year or so.

The thing was Kiffin came in and had a fair amount of talent. Therefore, he could look good here and there. Say what you want about the man, he can recruit as he appeals to that age group. Sadly, he would've done good here assuming as you said he didn't have us in the NCAA dog house every season.

Dooley is a good coach. I think he is at a loss to get the troops motivated and is looking for the win to hang his hat on. It hasn't happened yet. If he had the players, he could turn it around. My fear is he won't get the players, or he won't get them in enough time and quantity, and we'll be looking for a new coach at the end of next season.

I've alluded in the past of knowing some big money types and people here who know where I'm from and live can probalby take an educated guess who at least one of them is. I've mentioned things in the past and they have come true. The whispers are kicking up; Dooley will be lucky to be here another two seasons if things dont change. Next season, we better be in a bowl game and the season after that better be no worse than an 8-4 season with us comming close to an SEC Championship game appearance.

I fear we are in a rut and we may not get out of it for a long time. We need to keep Dooley here for a while and get some kind of success going. Otherwise, the Monday morning QB's with deep pockets will put us on a coaching carousel and we'll be on it 15+ seasons before we get off of it.

There are already rumors that Dooley will be fired before the beginning of next season. I don't believe them. And I wouldn't support it. I think we've got to give him one more season, if for no other reason than the negative effect another coaching change would have on recruiting. But he had better field a much-improved team next season or he's history.

The product he put on the field Saturday was an embarrassment. If he and the prospect of a bowl can't motivate their dead asses then we need someone who can. If they can spend 30 mil on a practice facility, surley they can find someone with a resume.

All excellent points. I am in hopes Dooley wouldn't be fired after only two seasons because of the instability it does create. Some people, believe it or not, think Alabama has hired and fired coaches a little excessively.

I believe most things happen for a reason. Saban left LSU for the chance and money. Shula had a 10 win season in 05. We kept Shula and he STB (.05 to Shiny) in 06. Saban hated the pro's, we wanted a quality coach and made an opening.

So does that mean the worst thing for us keeping Shula for 06 was the best thing for us getting Saban for 07? Because you know if Shula had a mediocre 05 he would have been gone following 4-9 and 6-7.

Dooley won't be fired before the next season. But there is that talk. I have to believe there is some people looking around to see what we can get. That's the problem/good thing (depending on your point of view, I think it's good...) with firing Dooley now. Who are we going to get? There is no one out there who is a good enough coach who is dumb enough to leave what they have going on now and come into the situation we have here.

I don't want to see Dooley go either. He deserves two more seasons. I think long term he will do wonders for the program. I do worry all the big pockets will jump up and someone will make a change.

I must say I DVRed the Dooley show earlier and just finished watching. He seemed to be a man who is concerned about something. :(

Turner Gill was fired at Kansas. He was 5-19.

Last time a SEC team hired a 5-19 coach it took him two seasons to win a national championship. Take a chance?
