Highly risky. Reminds me of Carter's attempt to rescue the Iran hostages where two of the helicopters crashed the operation had to be aborted. Really made Carter look weak because of the failure of that operation.

I've done nothing but work claims since Thursday, so the news about OBL was a real pick-me-up.

The feds finally declared Tennessee a disaster area for the affected southern and eastern counties. I've never experienced anything like this in 25 years...it kinda shakes your faith a little bit. But then you look at Alabama and see how bad it could have been.

Days like yesterday renew my faith in how we transition power and that despite political differences that someone who I had serious doubts as to their willingness to prosecute the war on terror that once he was sworn in reality and good judgement reigned over political rhetoric.

I believe Obama wanted to close Gitmo, but I think he acceded to the reality and benefits to US security of Gitmo. Kudos for just not blindly trying to shut it down despite promises and pressure. Its been clear for awhile that detainees at Gitmo have been giving up crucial information and something as innocuous as a nickname four years ago was the thread that finally led to the full unraveling.

I like that it was boots on the ground as it removes a TON of doubt that everyone would have had. Release the videos and pics.

Kudos to Obama. Kudos to W. Mega Kudos to the unheralded pros in the intel community who don't do it for glory or politics, but to protect us all and to bring justice to those who wish to kill us.

Frankly I bet if Obama and W were in the same room last night they would have shared a bro-hug.

Lots of videos up on youtube of students across the USA celebrating. OSE, PSU, ISU, IA, UT, GA, etc

Reminds me of the first night of the first gulf war. We were all watching the news in the lobby of Hess Hall, when we heard some people chanting and it turned out to be the hippys chanting no blood for oil.

A huge crowd from Hess followed and argued them for a bit then we broke off into Presidential Courtyard and completely filled it up and sang the anthem and pledge of allegiance. Then everyone headed down to the strip and marched up the strip with flags.

You don't forget things like that and neither will the kids doing it last night. They were 7-11 years old and old enough to remember 9/11.
