I disagree, stu. Penn State's AD, Tim Curley, was a former player for Paterno. JoePa essentially hand picked him for the job. I think it's incredibly naive to think JoePa sought or needed his counsel or approval for anything.

JoePa agrees and has stated how he should have done more.

I'm pretty confident that at the age of 28, had I witnessed a guy pinning down a 10 year old in the shower and raping him that I would have done something.

How dangerous is an old wet naked guy with a boner in the showers anyway. I would have thrown some cleats at him or something.

But where I think he really screwed up was not wondering why this guy wasn't going to jail 8 - 12 days after he reported it?

Is there really some ambiquity about whether he could get by with just a slap on the wrist in that situation?
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

In 2006 the same board of trustees told Joe he needed to resign. Not because of scandal, but because of innefectiveness. Joe just ignored them. They were powerless. It was easy for them to axe him now because they have the public behind them. They've been wanting to get rid of his sorry ass for years.

I grew up an hour from State College and have attended games about a dozen times. My brother attended there. In my and my brother's opinion, Joe knew and was part of the cover up. There ain't no other plausible scenario. He was like a mob boss up there. Loved by the people because of his benevolence, but everything he did was for the purpose of increasing his power and feeding his ego.

circa 2001, 2002, 2003 whatever...

Joe Paterno says...A) I think we should contiue letting our former DC have emiritus status, full access to the program etc
Tim Curley says...B) I dont think this is a good idea we should cut this guy off from the program entirely.

What happens? A or B?

Somehow, i just know that this Sandusky-Paterno-child rape stuff is Auburn's fault. Can anyone prove that it's not?

Is that talking about my post? Thats a hypothetical question, not facts. In Paterno vs Curley on any decision including whatever bullshit HR questions stu mentioned, Paterno would win any disagreement. Curely was not Joe Paternos "boss" in any way shape or form other than on a piece of paper you could wipe your ass with.

Agree.

Much in the same way that Mal Moore is Nick Saban's "boss." Yeah, right. Not hardly.

They told me that they were 16 (age of consent in NC), and I believe them.

About the Paterno stuff? I don't believe that's accurate. Where did you hear that?

It was a joke...

Sheridan went on Finebaum saying that he knew who the bag man was in the Cam Newton ordeal and would reveal it.

Sheridan never revealed any names.

You made a joke about the Penn State scandal being connected to Auburn.

I then made a comment about Danny Sheridan and a bag man.

I guess Saturday night affected you more than we thought. I'm sorry. I know that it must be tough. We're here for you, AA...

I'm not saying Paterno shouldn't have done more. I'm pointing out that his failure was the same as McQueary's, but with the difference being that McQueary actually saw it happen (and could have stopped it, which, IMO, makes his actions criminally negligient).

I'm also saying that, regardless of anything else, the AD's role is clearly higher than that of football coach and, as such, was responsible for reporting it. There's a clear chain of command and it completely broke down, which means they're all guilty esp. Spanier who had the ultimate on-campus authority and should have been the one to go to authorities.

Paterno's first move was correct since he was told second-hand. But that's not at issue since he was fired for not doing more. I just don't think you can lay all the blame at his feet because he is more influential. The AD has a job to do and the football coach has a job to do when it comes down to brass tacks and while a coach like Paterno wields considerable influence, at the end of the day, he followed protocol and told his superior and Curley did not because apparently he enacted means to cover it up.

My guess is that Paterno, by his own volition and the concerns of others like Curley, was excluded from the conversation about what to do with Sanduskey. That doesn't excuse why Paterno didn't question why the matter wasn't brought to the police's attention because he did know something.

Thanks. I wasn't sure at first if the hook set or not. When I saw the long reply, I was very happy. Thinking about getting this fish mounted and hanging it above my fireplace.
