For some reason, I always think of this scene whenever Rat shows up...

Thank God Clinton provided an economic climate in which the .com boom could flourish the way it did.

Yeah, he and his pig-ankled wife did such a great job in the first 2 years that the voters overwhelmingly elected Newt Gingrich and the GOP Congress so they could stop them from continuing to do it.

More to the point, Newt and the CWA Congress practically strong-armed ol' Slick Willy into signing the '97 tax cut that was very beneficial to the economy. I actually did give him credit for that at the time, but we all know he never would have done that unless he was forced to. Same goes for the welfare reform bill that he was dragged, kicking and screaming, to sign.

LOL There must not be anybody else following the logic that Newt was somehow responsible for those Clinton-era successes. They don't even list poor Newt in the polls anymore - don't you have to earn a full percentage point to get a mention?

I'm sure you were very reasonable in your treatment of Bush
That seems to be a problem for you. You are sure of things without any facts.

And you guys have such great quips. How can I compete with that, when all I have on my side are facts and the truth?

I miss Talent posting. I didn't always agree with him, but I liked the way he said it, usually.

Facts are often fudged around here, actually. Like the assertion that Clinton was dragged into welfare reform...hell, one of his famous campaign themes in '92 was to "end welfare as we know it." As governor he did the same thing in Arkansas - toughening work requirements and limiting benefit periods, ultimately removing several thousands from the roles. What he pushed through as prez resulted in 7-8 million ultimately coming off welfare.
