Yep I needed to hire some young kids for cleaning up brush around the house.

I had already cut the trees, cut up the wood and all they had to do is move it and pile the brush up.

Doesn't appear HS kids want to work any more (I hauled hay and cut tobacco all day for 2.75 per hour and thought I was rich when I had 27.50 after a 10 hour day). I was happy to get that work too.

Now days if you can find a kid to do outside work they want MORE than minimum wage.

I got my nephew to help me. He drove over an hour one way to get here. I paid him well, really well because he was the only one willing to do it, he never asked me how much I was going to pay him, and he got it done in half the time I expected him to. I made him promise to tell everyone that I paid him minimum wage (the rest was a tip so they don't have to know about that LOL).

The reason is he knows alot of the teenagers around here, as well as some of the other nephews/cousins etc and I didn't want them to start looking for things I needed done if they found out what I paid him. They had their chance but nobody ever showed up to actually work except the one.

This is probably the case in most places where OWS protesters have gathered. The fact that it is being reported in a place like Portland, which is a Mecca for weirdos from across the country, is surprising. Seriously, why the hate here for the WS Occupiers? If all you know you got from HBO's Too Big to Fail, at least you have a clue as to what their biggest gripe is about. And really it's the same gripe the original tea partiers had... WS/corporate greed and malfeasance wrecking the country with government complicity.

In fact you have some of the very same gripes but you can't camp out and play bongos all day because, well - you have to work. The Occupiers are willing to take yer place...they have the free time, and they like the camping-out part.
