There is three deep competition at most positions. Our linebackers and D line is stacked like chord wood. I'd put our RB corp up against anyone in the country. O line should be a strength with most starters returning, quality red shirts and recruiting. Have you ever heard of the Kouandjio brothers?

Actually a pretty good time to be a Bama fan.

But I have to call Bulkshit! on your comments of the last 20 years. Tubby won quite a few games with a solid offensive and defensive plan. I keep hearing y'all went undefeated in '04.

To his shame, Tubby was, at best, a mediocre recruiter. During his tenure, we were ALWAYS outrecruited by Bama, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida.

To his credit, Tubby routinely managed to beat Bama, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida who had LOT more talent then he had.

Tubby was the anti-Richt.

And y'all still fired him. He was probably the best thing to happen to AU since Shug.

What happens next? What else: On Wednesday morning — years after the "birther" issue began to smolder on the political fringes but mere hours after the man who led the Auburn Tigers to a perfect 13-0 record in 2004 went on national television to force the issue — the President of the United States releases his long-form birth certificate to the American public. Oh, but I suppose that's just a coincidence, huh?

I was opposed to firing Tubby when we did. He brought us back from the crypt after Tater Tot, who was more destructive to our program than any of our probations. Tubby wasn't a very good recruiter, but he had a solid record against all our rivals. Yet he was fired after only had one bad season.

But he had obviously lost control of his own staff, some of whom were actively undercutting each other. He had some assistants who were grossly underperforming, but he wouldn't fire them. When he did, he hired Franklin who took a bad offense and made it even worse.

Even Tubby's supporters (like me) expected one more bad year, followed by him being fired anyway. I guess the logic was, if we're probably going to have another bad season. and then fire him anyway, why wait?

The firing of Tubby, and the shocking hire of 4-26 Gene Chizik, turned out to be a stroke of genius.

With Fairley joining Suh on Detroit's D-line, the Lions should have a monster defense. If they can also keep Stafford healthy and throwing to Calvin Johnson, the Lions might not suck much longer.

I think it was one of the smartest picks in the draft. The issue that made him fall was his fire every down. Playing between Suh and Von Nostron I don't see them letting that happen. That's a monster line.

He only dominated every offensive line the toughest conference in the country. I wonder what he could have done if he had just tried a little harder. Maybe he could have dominated Big Ten offenses too.

Just give Van Nostron free tickets to the All You Can Eat Buffet at Shoney's and he'll tear peoples' heads off.

As an Auburn fan, I'm excited about seeing what Fairley can do on the same line as Suh. But as a Bears fan, I'm not looking forward to seeing Fairley slamming Cutler to the ground all afternoon, twice a season. D-linemen with half the talent of Fairley already do that on a regular basis.

We just got an outstanding verbal from Josh Holsey, a 4 star #6 ranked CB from GA.

So far, this class has 5 commits, with an average rating of 4 stars. Chizik and his staff can really recruit.

The hits just keep on coming. Today we got another big commit from Mike Blakely. He was a 4 star RB from last year's class. He was a top recruiting target and an Auburn lean throughout the recruiting season, but surprised everyone by caving to family pressure and signing with Florida. He redshirted, was miserable, didn't like Muschamp, and asked for a release. Muschamp surprised everyone by releasing him to any team except FSU or UM.

He still has to sit out a year, but he starts classes on Thursday.

Welcome to the family, Mike.
