Re: Florida State Seminoles
I wonder what the dollar amount loss is on a 7.9% drop in the S&P's...
https://www.cnbc.com/2025/04/28/trumps- ... nixon.html
President Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office are the worst for the stock market for the start of a president’s four-year term since the 1970s.
The S&P 500′s 7.9% drop from when Trump was sworn into office on Jan. 20 through the April 25 close, is the second worst first 100-day performance going back to the beginning of President Richard Nixon’s second term, according to CFRA Research. Nixon saw the S&P 500 tumble 9.9% in 1973, after a series of economic measures he took to combat inflation resulted in the 1973 to 1975 recession. Nixon would later resign in 1974 because of the Watergate scandal.

On paper
Pretty sure all 9.6 trillion in stock value will be restored by July 4th, not that it matters all that much. Just 10% of all US citizens own 88% of entire market and the majority of them blindly voted against Trump.

What's the difference b/w saying the deficit is just "on paper"? It's all just real big numbers that you have no conception of, so why are you so nonchelant about one of them but freaking out over the other one? You don't have a goodamn clue what either of them mean, so why not just STFU?

six days later

all these leaders talk big until they understand Trump won't fold to them unless its in his interest, not theirs.
Trump should demand all faculty that openly supported harassing jewish students on campus be fired including the president who stood up to him in the media.

The Stock Market is just market capitalization of every single publicly traded company in the country. We have so many of them, we need multiple stock markets. And the price of those shares rise or fall depending on the full faith of individual investors who buy, hold, sell, or even short those stocks. It is "on paper" because if you don't sell (and I don't, I buy and hold) then you just wait (wait years if you must, or even decades) then the value of the stock will likely far exceed the price you paid to buy it. Then sell. Over the long run, the number one thing US citizens can invest in to make the most money is real estate. A very close second, is the stock market. A very distant third (and getting more distant day by day) is education.
The deficit is a real dollar figure of money that the federal government is "short" that it has to pay out (each year) to pay for itself and all the people who consume government services. If it took in enough tax money (or hopefully, tariff money) there would not be a deficit. This is not gambling. This is a concrete, mathematically number, proving that our government is incapable of operating on a budget.
The debt is what our government owes. Much of it, is owed to ourselves. But that doesn't make up for it. It is so large now that we can't even get involved in foreign affairs anymore simply because so much of our spending to just to square interest payments to savings bond holders.
You can't "wait and hold" with the federal debt. it just gets bigger. And bigger. Kind of like your ego.

Fuck Harvard eCat. Seriously, I am with you on this, fuck Harvard. Harvard is no longer a university. If you have a $50 billion dollar endowment, you are just a hedge fund that offers classes. Fuck everything else.

This will happen every single day for the next 3 years and 9 months at least
They were just in Colorado. Now, back to California. And surprise. We are there with a mass arrest. Get used to it.

I'm not a big war guy as most of you know, but ending WPS bs is a good idea. Next up, stop coddling the troops. Don't ask don't tell was a great idea. If you don't cut the mustard, you'll be removed one way or another. War is still hell and there is always a chance we may have to fight one that's necessary and not a MIC ploy to launder money. If so we're in big trouble for all the woke bs the dems push so hard. Drill Sergeants need to go back to yelling and getting in faces. Train them up the right way. Trump already got trans out of the military which was a breath of fresh air. Let's build on that.

I wish a DI on Parris Island would curse you out, punch you a few times and throw you in the creek to let some gator munch on you and have a some drunken, Murdaugh-like fuck-ups run over your carcas a few times while they bounce around in their overpriced center consoles.Tree wrote: ↑Tue Apr 29, 2025 10:34 pm I'm not a big war guy as most of you know, but ending WPS bs is a good idea. Considering the broad swaths of people that Maga is perfectly happy to see harassed you'll excuse me if I find your (and Trump's) ostensible concern for anit-semitism to come across as a bit... disingenuous...

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I'm pretty vocal about my concerns with Jewish influence in this country
but anyone being harrassed on campus to the extent they are being called out for their ethnicity/culture , and in this case even being prevented from attending class
is an issue, and Harvard was complicit in that happening. They encouraged it.
As for Trump, he is bought and paid for by Israel, so you know, that goes with the territory.
FWIW, I'd be just as vocal if it was happening to Tranny's if all they were doing was trying to get to class.
I'd be shouting from the rooftops "LET THOSE FAGGOTS LEARN SOME SHIT!"

I agree with eCat. I think we could better say that the GOP is in and of itself, pretty pro-Israel. I think that stems from the guilt that the party feels about the US staying out of World War II for as long as we did.

Ocean container slump signals trouble for Los Angeles truckload volumes
The country’s most reliable source of freight is slowing down.
www.freightwaves.com
In a stark reversal of fortune, the bustling Port of Los Angeles, long a reliable source of freight for truckers across the nation, is facing a significant downturn in container volumes. This decline is expected to have far-reaching consequences for the trucking industry, particularly for carriers that have traditionally relied on Southern California for steady business.
Recent data from SONAR’s Container Atlas reveals a troubling trend: Daily ocean container bookings from China to the United States have plummeted by 20% compared to the same period last year. This sharp decline is largely attributed to the escalating trade tensions between the two economic powerhouses, with the Trump administration’s aggressive tariff policies, including a recently imposed 245% tariff on Chinese imports, playing a central role.
For trucking companies that have long depended on the steady flow of goods from the Port of Los Angeles, this downturn spells trouble. As fewer containers make their way across the Pacific, the volume of freight available for overland transport is expected to diminish substantially. This reduction in available loads could lead to increased competition among carriers and potentially lower rates for those able to secure shipments.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that many importers have temporarily halted inbound shipments as they reassess their strategies in light of the new tariff regime. While some of these pauses may be transient, the overall trend suggests a more prolonged period of reduced volume, especially for businesses heavily reliant on goods targeted by the Trump administration’s tariffs.
