"Its very much like telling an IT assistant what you envision that you want and its like "OK here boss, here is all the code you need to replace" but it only takes like 45 seconds."
I guess this is a good time to ask if we can tweak this place to allow embedding of BlueSky posts...

Re: MIT Engineers
All this is, is Elon telling every single director and manager of every agency in the federal government, you are not doing your job. That's it. That is all this is, the managers and directors not being able to describe exactly what it is their subordinates, do. In all my 28 years of work in IT (26 of them as a computer scientist) never once, not even once did I ever have to defend what I did and describe my job. Not once. If I ever had a boss ask me to do that, I would have looked him in the eye and told him that it was HIS JOB to defend and describe my job to his superiors. And that if he couldn't do it, I don't deserve that job. That would have been my response.Dave23 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2025 1:43 pm Some of us feds assume Elon is using Grok to filter thru the “5 bullets” emails he requested from all federal employees over the weekend.
Some of us also assume that he’s just seeing who checks email and who doesn’t.
Some of us also think he’s just playing “Simon Says”, or some other squid game with us.
The only people who are pissed off about all this bullshit are the people who should not have their government job. That is because they know that they don't do anything. They just had a friend who gave them a perpetual paycheck out of patronage as long as nobody asks any questions. And Elon is on to them.

Anyone who is doing a worthy and important federal job, would have zero trouble defending it and defining it. And likely, they would have a hard time doing so with just 5 short bullet points. Really what should be happening here is every agency director should be doing this for all their people as they work for them. If they can't, then that director needs to go. Defend your staff, justify your people. It shouldn't be that hard, not unless they got their do-nothing-job through nothing other than patronage.

Re: MIT Engineers
The five bullets email was directed to everybody, not just management. All of my team, as well as me, were directed to reply to the email before our shift ended. We assume we were told this, rather than later that evening or right at the 11:59 deadline, as “proof” that we actually saw our emails during the day (our assigned TOD’s), and were actively online and working (or at the very least checking emails) during the day. What’s pissing everyone off more than anything is the vagueness in all of it. It’s a game to them. Tell us what you need, and don’t be a dick about it…otherwise, fuck off.innocentbystander wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 10:48 amSo you've said. Re: MIT Engineers
If they think that by doing this, they are filtering out the unproductive workers, they couldn’t be more wrong.
What they are actually doing is pissing off the best workers…the ones who will say “I’m good at what I do, and I can find a place willing to pay me what I’m worth, let me telework at my convenience, and not be subjected to this bullshit.” That’s the people they will lose, and it makes our work that much more difficult.

They don't give a fuck. The cruelty (and stupidity) is the point. It's not a bug, it's a feature. Might as well get used to it. Most of them want to "burn it all down" anyway. Hell, I've heard one or two folks in here saying that...

Destroying government -- specifically the IRS and those entities charged with controlling/regulating the behavior of corporate entities -- is the purpose of those bullshit. This is nothing by the oligarchs teaming up to seize more power and more money with no regard for the middle class, this nation's longterm health and viability or the stability of the world order. it's so damn Orwellian, and dupes like IB fall for everything hook, line and sinker.

Re: MIT Engineers
Fall for what? Do you know what a patronage job is? You used the word, so let me ask you, do you know what an oligarch is? I sure do. More to the point, do you know why the middle class has been completely hollowed out over the last 70 years? I'll give you a hint, a big part of the problem goes back to the federal government.DooKSucks wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 6:05 pm Destroying government -- specifically the IRS and those entities charged with controlling/regulating the behavior of corporate entities -- is the purpose of those bullshit. Musk is the richest man in the world. By doing what he is doing, he is making himself, poorer. There is no personal financial benefit that he is receiving. If he pisses off people like you (people who could choose to buy his stuff), you will never buy another Tesla. Why would he go out of his way to make himself poorer and anger people like yourself f he didn't think this was so damn important?
We don't even need to get into why being POTUS is bad for Trump's health. Serving 4 more years might shave a couple years right off his lifespan what with all the angst and aggravation that comes with this. He's doing this not to better himself, but because it is the right thing to do. He is being altruistic. Have you ever been altruistic about anything in your life, counselor? Oh that's right, I keep forgetting, everything about your life is destroying the lives of others.

The BEST workers? People like Lisa Page? Or Peter Strzok? Or Lois Lerner? Or Mayorkas? Or Dr Fauci? Or Janet Yellen, is she the best? Tell me, what do you consider to be the life of the BEST government worker? And why? What makes them the best? And why shouldn't we piss them off?
I have worked for companies that pissed me off, we all have. If being pissed off at your employer is something new and foreign to federal workers, I don't give a shit. Join the club. If you don't like it, quit. I have done that multiple times in my career, and in a few of those cases my quitting caused my bosses to lose their jobs (and in one case, that job loss meant my former boss lost his house and his marriage!) People quit all the time. And if you are the best at what you do, then maybe you should quit and do it for yourself? Unless you do what you do for altruistic reasons?
You said some of the people in these government agencies think this is some kind of a game. Its not a game. Its serious. The adults are back in charge, Trump's is a serious, adult Presidency.
Lastly, why do you think Trump and Elon picked the staff that work in Obama's United States Digital Service to staff DOGE? Why those people specifically? Why not any other existing government agency?

Re: MIT Engineers
They definitely don't care which person it is that gets pissed off. I'm sure they would prefer to weed out the do-nothings and keep the hard-workers, but the whole point is to find people who will either leave voluntarily or self-identify through their failure to respond no matter who that is. They are computer/IT guys, they dont care if the person who leaves was carrying the whole team, they likely dont want to even do things in the same old way at all, getting rid of the person everyone else was reliant on to do it the old way probably helps them make changes.
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

Had my first job interview on the shitter today. Wasn’t planned but of course 20 seconds before the set time I suddenly had to drop a load. Not sure if the “sound effects” made it to the mic but I sure as shit didn’t care. Alexis. the girl who did the interview called me back later in the day so probably no foul play detected.
