Re: Florida State Seminoles
No wonder Trump (supposedly) doesn't take a salary as president (which of course sets the Maga chuds off in cascades of whistling wonderment and claims that that proves he can't be bought, or something like that). It costs the taxpayers $3.5 million for every round of golf this fat fuck plays, and he plays a lot. And not only that, he plays at his own courses, so that at least some of the money that it costs for every round goes into his pocket. Amazing...
Trump Golf Weekends’ Cost To Taxpayers Hits $18.2 Million
WASHINGTON — Donald Trump’s insistence on playing golf at his Florida courses has now cost American taxpayers more than $18 million since he regained the presidency, setting him on a pace to exceed the $151.5 million he spent in his first term, according to a HuffPost analysis.
On Saturday, Trump is playing golf for the 13th day of his 48 in office. It was his 10th day playing at his course in West Palm Beach, across the Intracoastal Waterway from his Mar-a-Lago country club home and adjacent to the Palm Beach County Jail.
He spent another three days at his course in Doral, just east of the main runways at Miami International Airport.
According to a 2019 Government Accountability Office report examining the first four trips Trump took to Mar-a-Lago during his first administration, each one costs $3,383,250 — a sum based on 2017 dollars that is likely higher now.
Trump and his entourage fly down on Air Force One while the military brings down the vehicles for his motorcade on C-17 transports. Because Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, straddles the width of the barrier island, police boats with machine guns mounted on the bows patrol the Intracoastal while a Coast Guard vessel is stationed off the beach in the Atlantic. Additional costs include law enforcement and explosive-sniffing dogs.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
yea I agree, he needs to stay off the golf course. I know he doesn't give a fuck and he can probably claim that from a health benefit its necessary to keep him active and mentally engaged but its a bad look. Its not anything new from his previous presidency and no one can certainly claim that is interfering with his presidential obligations. If anything, liberals would want him to be on the golf course more and quit ruining their lives.
If it were me I'd be in Washington 24/7.
also, Stacey Abrahamson gets $2b to give away green appliances? WTF.... The amount of grift is beyond comprehension at this point.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I agree, it would probably be better (and cheaper) if he played a course in Virginia or Maryland. But then that course would have to all but shut down to the public if the POTUS was there.
Many of those multi million dollar costs we are paying whether he plays or not hedge. That is just the cost for having 24 hour body guards and secret service protection. We can't ask the POTUS to just hide in the White House for 4 years because that is the cheapest thing to do.

I don't necessarily think he should stay off the golf course, but surely there are plenty of nice courses in the DC area he could play at. Flying your whole entourage down to Florida on Air Force One (and also needed a cargo carrier to fly your whole motorcade down there) at a cost of $3.5 million per round is a bad look. Maybe once in awhile, but every weekend?

Surprised none of you Magas have yet used the term "detox" to describe the economic downturn that is surely coming (has already started). I've seen it mentioned from a few different right wing commentators and pols already. Funny, we never heard anything of the sort during the campaign, it was just "I'll fix it all on Day 1!" (even though the economy was doing quite well during most of the campaign and didn't need any "fixing," certainly not by Clowny). Now that that clearly hasn't happened (and never was going to happen) and in fact the opposite is happening (and will continue to happen while this clown is in charge) let the excuses and whitewashing begin..

The DC golf courses aren't open yet for the year.
Plus, he's going to Mara Lago so the resort can pay for all his Secret Service men to stay and play golf.
I would spend the weekends at Camp David. It looks like a pretty cool place to chill.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
here is another thing I'd do as President, I'd invite the CEO of WalMart, Target, Meijer, Kroger, whoever - anyone that runs a superstore and tell them they have to get together, divide up the country and I need to have a superstore with fresh meat , produce, and pharmacy open in every major downtown urban area in America, even if they have to operate it at a loss.
Then I'd call up each city and tell the mayor they have to find land, tax free for them to build or renovate it on, AND they have to open up a satellite police office on site that is manned 24/7, even when the place is closed. It also has to be no more than one block away from public transportation. In areas like New York , Chicago and LA, I would expect as many as 3 stores open in different locations. Guarantee the government will reimburse them if they are looted (but not shoplifted).
I'd tell them that is the cost of doing business in this country and we are going to support you to try to be as profitable as possible
Next I call in Dollar General and thank them for what they are doing with this country in terms of providing options to rural America, but that isn't enough. Again - fresh produce and meats. The cost of doing business. I'd be more inclined to subsidize DG in some way as they are actually creating a positive environment for some communities.
Then I'd go after the schools - same thing - police officer onsite and I'd mandate that parents have to be involved in school. If we can mandate that kids have to be in school, we can mandate that parents whose child has less than a 2.0 GPA have to attend parent/teacher conferences and participate in education plans. (making them available at convenient times). You don't want that? Then don't have a kid
Btw, we don't need a DOE for that, as long as the federal government is holding the purse strings to keep education systems solvent, they can mandate that as the state level.
you can say that is socialism and I"d agree, but then again, so is having a safety net of social services for people. If you want to get these people off these programs you have to provide a quality of life and break the cycle of no opportunity. That is not benevolence on the part of the government, its a strategy to reduce crime and poverty without burdening the taxpayer.

What would be surprising if is the economy thrived in an era of unprecedented austerity. And that is what this is.
Politicians are erupting (both sides I would believe) because the ways they funnel money to NGO's and other forms of graft are being exposed and cut off, Government increased its operating cost by 1.5 trillion under the Biden administration in terms of headcount and departments and nothing was gained.
and lets be honest, the economy was a lot of smoke and mirrors under Biden. In his last year, and probably going back further, many if not all of the jobs reports were later revised to show a downward trend but an optimistic jobs reports keeps the stock market propped up.

LOL, he'll be selling oil leases on Yellowstone and Yosemite before it's all over with. There have already been lots of layoffs of National Park Service staff and more to come I'm sure. National parks are the last thing Trump cares about...

I wouldn't say its the last thing and I doubt he'll allow or even consider drilling or billboards in national parks.
However the government owns millions of acres of land that are simply sitting idle with no public benefit, especially in sparsely populated states like Wyoming.
There is no reason for them to own the land, and if they do own it, there is no reason for them to have it sit idle.
The position Libertarians take on National Parks is the primary reason I stopped claiming to be one.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
This is great. Problem is that you aren't fixing the obesity problem. The poor, the people who need to be eating meat and vegetables, even if you put the meat the veggies where they can buy it, at a price they could afford to pay, they still wont buy it. It will rot at the superstore. They only eat carbs and chips and crap. Pre-processed foods. All they see with meat and veggies are foods they need to actually, cook. That is not going to happen. We learned that during covid. Do I have to tell you about all the poor people paying $50 to $60 (every Thanksgiving) to buy instant mashed potatoes at KFC because they will not spend $5 at the store for a bag of raw potatoes and make mashed taters themselves?eCat wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 1:28 pm here is another thing I'd do as President, I'd invite the CEO of WalMart, Target, Meijer, Kroger, whoever - anyone that runs a superstore and tell them they have to get together, divide up the country and I need to have a superstore with fresh meat , produce, and pharmacy open in every major downtown urban area in America, even if they have to operate it at a loss.

The 2.0 GPA is another great idea but it will backfire. You will waste effort and money and fix nothing. The reason why the schools suck and the kids can't read or do math is their home lives. Their homes are in ruin because their families are in ruin. their families are in ruin because mom and dad are not married (nor were they ever.) Do we really need to get into the bastardy rate in the USA? Moreover, the parents are NOT going to go to parent teacher conferences no matter what you or I or anyone mandates. We can't force them and even if we could, nothing would be gained by it because the kids who are struggling most to pass classes, their parents do not speak much English. Or ANY English. A Principal calls a parent to get them to come in, the parent that speaks no English simply hangs up the phone. This is learned behavior. Zero communication.
Mayors finding land for satellite police precincts near the stores you are strong arming to open might not be so hard what with so many retail buildings abandoned all across America, but that is not close enough. The cop needs to be in the store, 24-7, to make sure it isn't being ripped off. And boy is that expensive. You want the cities which spent all their money housing illegal aliens to start parking cops at Wal-Mart for nothing other than arrest of shoplifters? Here in Arizona, we got grants from the state to park an armed cop (resource officer) at basically every single public school in the state. That happened right after Sandy Hook. That worked, no school shootings here. But super expensive.

Why the need for a WalMart in every major urban area? I bet most of them already have Target's, but even that isn't necessary. Necessary for what? There are already plenty of places to get fresh meat, produce and pharmacy in every major urban area...

eCat is correct. We have food deserts. But that is more a fact that the people who live in these deserts are not willing to cook their own food. What is offered for sale, would spoil.
Poor people used to be skinny and they cooked what little they had. Poor meant you could not afford to eat out, ever. You spread that one measly chicken, those 4 carrots, those 3 potatoes over 7 near empty plates. You fed yourself, your husband (who just pulled a double shift at the quarry), and his 5 kids. Nowadays, poor people have just two morbidly obese children, no husband (two different dads anyway), and the three of them live at McDonalds because they take EBT. And the poor have no idea how to cook.
