Damn, Dave , I am so sorry. I lost my mom to cancer 35 years ago and it's a terrible way to go. But, your parents never really leave you if they raised you

Re: La Salle Explorers
Thanks, guys…
Mom was adamant that she wanted no part of hospice. However…Mom was a hoarder. The state of her house made in-home care not an option. Once she entered hospice, she referred to her new surroundings as the “Taj Mahal”.
She was a child of the 60s, for sure. None of her 3 sons will ever know who their real father is. While pregnant with me, she married a young, scared soldier heading off to Vietnam, who wanted a son to have his name. After divorcing him in the early 70s, she never remarried. She was very independent, and proud of it.
Due to her hoarding, we never had family holidays at her house. In fact, I have not set foot inside her house in roughly 15 years (she bought the house in ‘08), and my youngest brother never has until the past month. My brother and I now have the pleasure of cleaning up a 4000 sq ft house, a 1500 sq ft condo, and 5 storage rooms (either 10x20 or 10x30) packed with crap. It will take us years.

Re: La Salle Explorers
Mom passed in solitude in the middle of the night while in hospice. Most likely the way she wanted. Dad was surrounded by the entire extended family when he passed. Being there is better in my mind.

Very sad

Re: La Salle Explorers
Sorry to hear, Dave.
I was never really close with my mom like my siblings were, but the loss was still tough.
My mom was a Fox News and weather channel junkie. My dad died when I was a teenager and she never remarried. She always said, why would I want to marry a wrinkly old ass. I'm better living in my trailer alone. She did have a crush on Shepard Smith, though. I'm just glad the Lord took her before it was public that he was gay. She would have been crushed.

Give that captain of Southwest flight 2504 a raise.

Re: La Salle Explorers
Because of all the THOTs and 304s that are willing to fly to Europe in the hopes of marrying the ultimate alpha male Tate (and he never married any of them, just fucked them and marketed their asses on Only Fans) I guess I'll put this here. Andrew and Tristan touched down in Ft Lauderdale Florida a few hours ago
Basically, the Romanian government had to lift the travel restrictions because... well... do they even have a case? I think they want to prosecute him for SOMETHING!!!! They charged him. They just can't officially prosecute him with any of those charges yet. And if the Romania government doesn't think they can win then.... will they ever be in court?

Re: La Salle Explorers
Been this week at spring training in FL. All the ballparks are 100% cashless, yet when you go out to dinner you pay cash or have an up charge for the card processing. After covid, it’s been strange to me that, in some industries, we’ve backtracked on the journey to a cashless society, and in others it went full 100%.
Re: La Salle Explorers
Definitely something all fans should do at least once. I should have went but can’t really afford it atm.

Re: La Salle Explorers
back from Dubai
Definitely a once in a lifetime experience and while I was there under ideal circumstances, If you ever wanted to visit that part of the world I would highly recommend it. As long as you respect their culture, its completely safe, the service people are amazing (they are also not arabs) and its really a version of what America in terms of infrastructure investment, quality of life (again, for the Arabs) and cultural investment could never hope to achieve. The downside is you have a caste system and some infringement, although not nearly as much as I thought, on your civil liberties. I saw women walking around malls and shops with bare midriffs and their tits hanging out in low cleavage tops so they are more lax on that than I thought they would be.
That said I didn't visit in in the heat of summer, I was on a 5 star resort eating at Michelin restaurants so its not like I experienced the "real" Dubai. Breakfast was included in our hotel rate, but the buffet if you were to pay out of your own pocket was $77 a person.
if you have a wad of dough to blow its a great vacation , but then again, if you have a wad of money to blow, just about anywhere is going to be a great vacation.
I did fly coach and I had hoped that flying Emirates meant a better quality experience on the flight. I was wrong. 14 hours of 200 people farting and not being able to spread my arms out so I had to eat like a chinese peasant holding the bowl up to my face, So I don't see me ever doing it again.
Best part was going to the desert in an SUV and running around the sand dunes then an evening at a oasis for dinner.
and just like people say, there are exotic car showrooms on every corner, like McDonalds here. Parking lot at the hotel every day was full of G-Wagons, a handful of Ferraris/Lambos/Rolls Royce - but I never felt intimidated by it.
first thing I did when I got up this morning was go to McD's and get a sausage McMuffin. Turkey sausage for a week just doesn't cut it. My body doesn't like to eat healthy.
finally, I'm going to generalize here but Asians with money on vacation are the rudest fucks I've ever encountered. Snapping fingers at wait staff, cutting in line, blocking aisles, dressing down....
Made me want to change my name to Oppenheimer.

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: La Salle Explorers
awesome post, awesome details
now this, this is my experience on every cruise I have ever sailed to Bermuda or Canada out of the port in Brooklyn NY. If you are going up to the Lido deck for breakfast, be ready to throw down with half of Asia for a cup of tea

Re: La Salle Explorers
on the way home, we flew over Greenland. The plane had this camera system so you could watch on your screen what it was flying over so I turned it on and watched for about 30 minutes.
I didn't see any sign of life at all, not a single structure, road, just snow covered mountains and plains. Now granted we flew over the mid section, not the southern border so I'm sure its similar to Canada in that regard

Greenland has more people than two Paducah, Kentucky’s!
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

Re: La Salle Explorers
funny, I saw someone interviewing the locals in Greenland. They equate becoming American with getting fast food places built in town
"We want McDonalds"
They are ready for $1.50 dog/coke combos

Re: La Salle Explorers
Btw, America peaked when super walmarts were open 24/7 and had a McDonalds onsite with $1 McDoubles and McChicken sandwiches

Those two sentences are the twin pillars of Maga, the second sentence applying to many other things than just the first...

In high school, on the rare occasion we were bored without booze, a house party, chicks, etc, we would sometimes drive over to one of the local Wal-Mart's late at night, find one of the phones placed throughout the store and start talking on the intercom system saying all sorts of outlandish shit. Good times....
I proudly took AFAM 040 at Carolina.
