eCat — I’ll say this about Wilson, though. Say UK is offering him $3 million to UNC’s $4 million (hypothetical numbers I made up). If he’s truly a one & done lottery pick, is that extra million really going to change his life significantly? Next year this time, he will be looking at an NBA windfall. Go be happy, kiddo. Life sucks ass after college.

Where can I contribute to Kentucky’s NIL? I’d cut a check to help get rid of Hubert’s ass.

these kids (or most likely their parents) always say it won't come down to moneyThe Anti k* wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 6:55 pm eCat — I’ll say this about Wilson, though. then it always comes down to money.
One and done's aren't committed to a national championship, yea, they are happy if it happens but the day they step on campus, they are marking the days off the calendar to their draft date. So playing for Carolina/KY - there are only 2 things that matter - how much are you going to play me? How much are you going to pay me?
I love that Rick Barnes is just blatant about it - You were paid to do X, you didn't so your ass sits.
Calipari would have never done that, he is so committed to getting his guys next level. And consequently he is 0-5 giving DJ Wagner the lion share of the minutes.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

If you are talking about BC, then I agree.
I think they lose to Duke on Saturday but Wake Forest is awesome this year. its just their year. Wake will make the NCAA tournament. Rare indeed that they have a team as good as this one, but UNC losing by one to this Wake team, not shameful. At least not in my opinion. Not this year.

Dude, no one gives a single fuck about BC basketball. Hubert the DEI hire has destroyed Carolina Basketball! I hope some of Trump’s executive orders apply to his abominable hiring.innocentbystander wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 12:30 amIf you are talking about BC, then I agree.

I will not defend Hubert. He has to go. No argument. Sadly, no Executive Order is forthcoming to save the Tar Heels this year.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
season is over, Cal lets him sit out the season to not hurt his draft stock, will still collect full NIL I would assume and Arkansas just gets fucked a little more by the man who is players first.

How does sitting out the rest of the season help his draft stock?
I want someone's ass blistered in the middle of Thanksgiving Square.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
in Flands case its probably a wash because he is the second leading scorer for Arkansas, but he's essentially peaked at Arkansas. They won't be winning the SEC regular season, tournament and they are in danger of not even making the NCAA tournament, and unless he is capable of carrying the team on his back to compete for those, then he'd rather be drafted on potential rather than reality.
Its also a get out of jail card for Calipari - "if only Boogie Fland didn't get hurt, he could have turned the season around"
UK was always battling hurt players mid season with questionable injuries - on two occasions the player simply refused to go into the game because of how he was being handled, and then it comes out he was "battling an injury"
there is no upside for Fland to keep playing a team whose season is washed....at least in the Calipari era of college basketball. Although they did pull off a win against Georgia last night, Clipari fully supports Fland in this because of the reasons mentioned above, with the only real question being does Fland really have a season ending injury? Or it is because 6 of the next 12 games Arkansas has is against ranked teams? Fland went from shooting 39% on the year to shooting 27% in SEC play and they really haven't faced any title contenders yet.
The real kicker is if Arkansas does start turning the season around, Cal will flip on Fland and start throwing shade about his commitment to the team. He won't mean it but he'll do it to appease the fanbase.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
congrats to UNC on getting Wilson.
Great talent.
I hope we land an older veteran in the transfer portal instead.
Like I said, the kids or the parents always say it isn't about the money, and its always about the money

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I dunno about the caaaisssshhh difference being the deciding factor here. Wilson seems to be very religious, which is right up Reverend Davis’ alley. If he matriculates to UNC, I pray he’s playing for a new coach. If not? No one player is worth keeping this imbecilic “coach”.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
And Illinois loses.
Lots and lots or "ranked teams" have been moving into and then right out of the top 25. The only thing that is consistent about this year's regular season is the inconsistency of the powerhouse teams. Either that, or college basketball has far too much "power-parity" which is more likely.

Auburn - Tennessee game tomorrow
IF you can get a ticket on the secondary market, that will be $372 for nosebleed seats. LOL!!!
