As far as big cities go:

Wash DC, San Fran, Chicago, San Diego, Austin, San Antonio, Boston

For me, NYC has a whole of things to do, but not a whole lot of things I'd like to do...

I absolutely hate Philly and Atlanta.

Best non city places I've been:

1. Flagstaff/Sedona/Grand Canyon - great for a family vacation. Stayed one night in Jerome, an old copper mining town just outside of Sedona built on a side of the mountain, stayed one night in Williams, AZ, and took the grand canyon railroad to the south rim. Stayed one night at the El Tovar, came back and stayed one night in Sedona. Best family vacation we ever had.

2. Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park - Views there are incredible. The inn there is incredible. Snow all year round. Better than Rocky Mt. National Park, imo.

3. Ocracoke Island in NC - Beaches at it's wildest.

Yosemite is definitely worth a trip. If you can, you should go in winter. Access is usually limited, but there are far fewer people. During the summer the place can be packed like Disney. Also it looks amazing with the snow.

How cold does it get in Yosemite in the winter?

I was comfortable walking around in a sweatshirt and jeans the day I went in the winter, but then again we were hoping in and out of the car and stuck to the valley floor.

1. Portland, Me - plenty of clubs and good places to eat - fresh water lakes and rivers no more than 15 to 30 minutes fom the airport - good golf nearby

2. NY - museums, clubs, eats, sports

3. Chicago - museums, clubs, eats, sports

4. DC - museums, clubs, eats

5. Savannah/Charleston - tie - good golf near by and plenty of good eats

Hilton Head (especially Sea Island) is my favorite place on earth. Savannah is a nice place to have close by, too. I would retire there if I could afford it.

Since we;re starting to include National Parks... favorite National Parks I've been too:

1. Yosemite-been 3 times, winter, spring, and summer. Amazing place.

2. Grand Canyon-went in winter, south rim

3. Sequoia-Kings Canyon-went in winter and summer, not as crowded as Yosemite, particularly cool in winter

4. Badlands-some of my favorite pictures

5. Acadia-went in summer, nice, also the proximity to the very enjoyable Bar Harbor was a big plus

6. Lassen Volcanic-went once in the late summer, pretty much had the place to myself. Described as sort of a mix of Yosemite and Yellowstone.

7. Death Valley-went on the 4th of July. Fucking. Miserable. Hot. Neet scenery though.

8. Redwoods-overcast when I went. Very disjointed place. Hard to even know when you are in the park.

9. Petrified Forrest-small, similar to Badlands in scenery, just not as impressive.

10. Everglades-took a boat tour, nice but not that impressive. The nearby Big Cypress Preserve was much more interesting.

Alright then. Two of 'em. Both had my father in 'em. It's peculiar. I'm older now then he ever was by twenty years. So in a sense he's the younger man. Anyway, first one I don't remember too well but it was about meeting him in town somewhere, he's gonna give me some money. I think I lost it. The second one, it was like we was both back in older times and I was on horseback goin' through the mountains of a night. Goin' through this pass in the mountains. It was cold and there was snow on the ground and he rode past me and kept on goin'. Never said nothin' goin' by. He just rode on past... and he had his blanket wrapped around him and his head down and when he rode past I seen he was carryin' fire in a horn the way people used to do and I could see the horn from the light inside of it. 'Bout the color of the moon. And in the dream I knew that he was goin' on ahead and he was fixin' to make a fire somewhere out there in all that dark and all that cold, and I knew that whenever I got there he would be there. And then I woke up...

Oh yea.....a pitcher of beer and two whole lobsters w/the trimmins' was $51 last night in Boothbay....I bet even AA can't beat that.
