Pope has Kentucky playing for the front of the jersey again (and generous NIL$). Congrats on getting your Program back.

Okay I am happy for hedge, DS, Goldenbear, and Anti-K today. You needed that win, and you got it. That was nice. Heels did just barely enough to get the W.
But I am really happy for eCat. Junglerat's team looked absolutely unbeatable until today.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
it was a fun game - glad it was at Rupp
and to see what it would have looked like without Pope, lets just go to the UT/Arkansas game
our NIL is big, no doubt, we have a coach that is creative about fund raising as well - like people that have contribute to the NIL Bluefund get invited to a player meet and greet

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

That’s great that Pope has opened the Program ba k up to the Kentucky fans instead of the celebrity jock sniffers. He seems like a genuinely good dude.

We certainly didn’t deserve that win, but that’s just who we are right now as a program. Michael Jordan is not walking through that door.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
They won despite having an inept coach. Hubert in his infinite fucking wisdom had Cadeau on Burton -- which was a major mistake on its own -- and doubled down on stupid by not doing anything to set up an attempt competent defense much less anything to try to block the drive into the lane, and he called a friggin timeout to set-up the defense. The Anti k* wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 5:35 pmWe certainly didn’t deserve that win, but that’s just who we are right now as a program. I get that NIL is a major issue for the basketball program, but the lack of coaching to adapt to the roster issues is infuriating.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Experts are correct about Tennessee. Now that is a program that is hungry for a national championship.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
This week Rick Barnes makes his triumphant return to Austin with the #1 team in the country to play against a shitty (relatively speaking, compared to the rest of the SEC) Texas team. I'm interested to see if he's capable of losing that game.
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

the big money donors had cut him off after a no show in the SEC tourney, then it got even worse after Oakland. He also refused to let his players get in the political arena by endorsing candidates. He was right to do that, but in the end, those people started pushing to cut off his NIL. He started something called La Familia and it got like maybe $40K in donations from fans and he was expecting 1m+ - after that it became clear to him he was cooked. It was why Arkansas had a chance to talk to him - Tyson, Walton and Jones money essentially promised him a huge NIL bucket

Cal has had NIL money for the past 20+ years…it was called WWW back in the day, though…

WWW has other favorites though - Cal hasn't been the guy with him for several years

J T Walsh, Shaq, and Nick Nolte did a movie about this back in 1994. Back then it was cheating.

Appreciate the info, e. I still think Pope actually coaches vs what Calipari devolved into. Cal was a damn good coach at Massachusetts. He became more reliant on superior talent and stopped evolving.eCat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 1:55 pmhe was living off money from his former players giving him NBA money for NILThe Anti k* wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 1:13 pmWas NIL really a problem under Cal? Cal recruited one player (one) at UMass to launch his entire career as a college basketball coach. One.The Anti k* wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 7:14 pmAppreciate the info, e. Marcus Camby was to Cal what Tom Brady was to BB. No Marcus Camby, then No Anthony Davis, no career at Kentucky. Its funny what you can get for a career as a highly paid head coach if you get just one special player as a younger coach.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
The last two posts show just how ignorant you are.
UMass and Lou Roe were doing big things at UMass before Camby arrived, and Cal had that '92 team in the S16. In '92, UMass lost a close game to UK before Dook cheated UK out of a win in the E8. Cal was established as one of the bright up-and-coming coaches before Camby showed up.
