As far as the nuclear testing thing, I knew they had detonated a bunch of test nukes but I had no idea it was near that number. Makes you wonder about the possibility of a so-called nuclear holocaust. Of course, all of these were done in remote locations and I guess we'll never know the radioactive damage that was caused, but goddamn, over 2000 nukes have been detonated since 1945 (and I would guess most of those were before 1970), so in a 25 year period thousands of nukes were detonated and I never even knew about it or heard of any long term negative effects worldwide. Obviously the human toll would be massively higher if those nukes were detonated over population centers, but it seems like the earth will be just fine even if all of the world's nuclear arsenals were launched simultaneously. It would probably be the end of human life (except for maybe New Zealand and the Faulkland Islands and some other remote locations) but that might be an improvement as far as the Earth is concerned...

I also don’t believe the theories of the US needed to be in the World Wars. I know it’s been discussed on here, but there is no way, logistically, a power other than God and the antiChrist can rule the world. They’d be stretched too thin. Roman’s couldn’t do it, Europeans couldn’t do it. Germany wouldn’t have been able to do it, even if US stayed out. The fact the USA NEEDS to be active in foreign affairs, outside this hemisphere, is only because of benevolence, not for some “national security” for the US.

From 1588 to 1945, the British Empire (of which the sun never set) was the world's policeman. One out of every six people in uniform on the earth were loyal to the crown in Buckingham Palace. The militia (British Colonist farmers on the Continent) were mostly former British Army. Many (almost all) served the Crown in the French and Indian war as much younger men, AND by 1777 they dramatically outnumbered the British Army on the Continent. In some engagements, the Continental Army had a 3 to 1 numerical advantage. By the time Cornwallis was cornered at Yorktown, he could only have wished he was at just a 3 to 1 disadvantage in numbers. Any tactical advantages that British military generals used in fighting abroad, those advantages were neutralized and mitigated when facing an enemy that matched their weapons, matched their tactics, and had superior numbers. The Continental militiamen, they were not (nor were they ever) illiterate, 3rd world peasants rising up against the empire the way they tried in India, the Middle East, and Africa.

Moreover, logistically fighting a war from more than 3000 nautical miles with 18th century naval ships, was damn near impossible for the British Empire. The only way the empire could serve AS the unbeatable empire was when the local British Colonists (wherever the empire was serving) were logistically supporting the Imperial troops! That is why the empire won the French and Indian war. In this instance (American Revolution), the local British Colonists were fighting directly against them offering NO logistical support.

So, yeah. There was not much the empire could do in this one case. The British Colonists in the 13 colonies in 1776, they were the wealthiest, the most educated, the most intelligent, the most literate, the most numerous, and the most sophisticated colonists there has ever been in the entire world history of colonists of every empire that has ever existed on this planet at any time, ever.
