George Will (yes, he is still alive) had an interesting article a few days ago. He said that its 1940 in the United States, 1940. Its 1940, because a world war has been raging for more than a year, we sit on the sidelines uninterested in it, and we are only interested in our Presidential election where the candidates are arguing about mundane, stupid things. Only instead of the Axis of Germany, Italy, and Japan, we have a NEW Axis of Russia, North Korea, Iran, and China. Basically, he is saying that the Russia invasion of Ukraine might be akin to Germany popping Poland or France, North Korea sending troops this week to help the Russians with Ukraine is similar to the help the Romanians and Bulgarians may have given the Germans, China wanting the Philippines (just haven't made a move yet), and Iran with Israel could be compared to Italy doing anything it did in Africa in the late 1930s and very early 40s. And we do nothing. Again.

I don't know if I totally agree with him. I don't know if he is saying these things because he is just old and that is what old people do. I don't know. Tough to say. Stephen Hawking made no sense in the things he was saying towards the end of his life as well. But it does get me thinking, these 4 nations may be militarily collaborating. Is that all that different from the Axis in 1940?
