so Kentucky landed a big freshmen and it appears they are the leader (if they haven't already got a commitment ) from a kid named Jasper Johnson.

In order to get that commitment they had to pay 1.5X what Bama was offering.

I am so fed up with college recruiting thanks to the NIL.


My take is this.

its hard for me to reconcile the whole "I'm here to win banners" along with all the other Kentucky superlatives they say to the camera knowing UK had to be the highest bidder for them to wear the uniform. Lets just see it for what it is.

UK paid them to be here to win championships

and lets not be afraid to hold them accountable for it.

Call a kid out mid season who is underperforming, who isn't doing what it asked of him and quite simply isn't putting in the herculean effort it takes to be the best at this.

and remind him and everyone else that the Porsche Turbo he is riding around in wasn't given to him to be an 8 -2-2 kid at a college powerhouse.

That's shitty I know but fuck it, these kids are now making 12X the salary of the average person in the state they represent, they are going to stay one year, and then they'll either go pro or go to the highest bidder the following year.

They aren't kids , stop treating them as such. They are paid professionals who are expected to perform.

I am at a point where I'd rather have a good kid that is a 3 -4 year guy, who is happy to make $200-$300K a year (as anyone should) than these 18 year old jackasses that truly believe their talent is worth the money they are making.

It will take another 3-4 years before it shakes out but youj're going to see a re-calibration in college basketball where freshmen don't get nearly as much as proven upper classman
