it is in Chapel Hill too, but only if written in Swahili.
U*NC is the cleanest most honest athletic program on the planet. I am jealous of their deserved success, and I'm a mewling cunt.

Re: SEC - Conference Discussion
Following DSL's cue, SEC rankings:
1. LSU. 4-0. Dismantled Oregon and West Virginia with big plays and a smothering defense. LSU's D is so quick to the ball, it's almost like they know the play being called. Overall, the team has more depth and talent than anyone in the SEC. Next: Kentucky.
2. Alabama. 4-0. Beat Penn State and Arkansas easily. McCarron still freaks a bit under pressure and the offense bogs down way too much in the red zone for my liking. Next: @Florida.
3. Florida. 4-0. Muschamp and Weis have the Gators playing well. Destroyed Kentucky, UAB and FAU. Beat Tennessee by 10. Make no mistake, Florida has a ton of talent, and the new coaches have them playing ball. Next: Alabama.
4. South Carolina. 4-0. I hesitated to put the Cocks this high because there is something not clicking.....yet, anyway. Four reasons they get this spot: (1) Never discount Spurrier (2) the talent level in Columbia is the best it's been ...ever (Lattimore, Jefferies, Clowney, etc). (4) The Hogs took the gas pipe yesterday. Next: Auburn.
5. Arkansas. 3-1. The Hogs ran into a buzzsaw yesterday. Bama took away the downfield passing game and the running game. The Bama D schemed a Petrino offense perfectly. Next: Texas A&M.
T-6. Vandy. 3-1. Best I've seen Vandy play since 1984. Lost to South Carolina by 18, but the defense still looked good. Next: Bye (then Alabama).
T-6. Auburn. 3-1. Auburn lost enough players last year to field two teams, but Chizik and company have the Tigers playing over their heads. Next: @South Carolina.
T-8. Georgia. 2-2. I expect Georgia to right the ship and there were signs of just that yesterday. They went on the road and soundly beat a wounded and cornered Ole Miss team. Something tells me that they are on the way up. Next: Miss State.
T-8. Tennessee. 2-1. Tennessee lost their big play WR, but I think better days are ahead for the Vols. Bray is the real deal and when Dooley is able to get a bit more out of both lines, the Vols will be dangerous. Hopefully, that doesn't occur until after the TSIO. Next: Buffalo (?).
10. Miss State. 2-2. This team is a headscratcher. Most expected them to do well, but screwed the pooch against Auburn and had to hold on in OT to beat LaTech at home. Next: @Georgia.
11. Kentucky. 2-2. De-pantsed on national TV by Florida and a loss to Louisville. Contestant #1 in the Mike Leach sweepstakes. Next: @LSU.
12. Ole Miss. 1-3. Horrible. Contestant #2 in the Mike Leach sweepstakes. Nutt having a $5 million buyout may gum the works in an attempt to bring the Pirate Man to Oxford (let's hope). Next: Fresno State.

I think they deserve it too. Still, doubt they would have jumped OK without some campaigning. If he was covering OK, OK would be the best team in football.

Re: SEC - Conference Discussion
I think you give Brent more credit than he deserves. Are the pollsters really a bunch of sheep that do his bidding. Musberger is just crowing at the sunrise. LSU's 3 wins against ranked opponents away from home and each in impressive manner give it the nod for a placement that will mean nothing a month from now. One doesn't need a network shill to come to that conclusion.

Mississippi State was overrated. But LSU has definitely done more and more impressively than Oklahoma to this point.

Re: SEC - Conference Discussion
SEC rankings:
1. LSU. 5-0. Killed Kentucky. Not even close. Clear #1 here. Next: Florida
2. Alabama. 5-0. Smothering defense. Next: Vandy.
3. Arkansas. 4-1. Nice come-back win vs the fading Aggies. Injuries will probably doom this team from reach great heights, though. Next: Auburn.
T-4. Florida. 4-1. Tough game vs a great Bama defense. Rest of the year may rest on Brantley's injury prognosis. And the going doesn't get easier. Next: @LSU.
T-4. Auburn. 4-1. Indisputable fact: Auburn finds a way to win. Next: @Arkie.
T-4. Georgia. 3-2. Solid performance against Miss State. Next: @Tennessee.
T-4. Tennessee. Quietly, Tennessee has gone to 3-1 on the year. They entertain an old rival this week. Should be a good one. Next: Georgia.
8. South Carolina. 4-1. One of the worst offenses I've seen, and they shouldn't be with Lattimore and Jeffries. Defense is good, and they'll get a win and go to 5-1 next week. Next: Kentucky.
9. Vandy. 3-1. Best I've seen Vandy play since 1984. Lost to South Carolina by 18, but the defense still looked good. Next: Alabama.
10. Miss State. 2-3. They've given up, apparently, but they'll win this week. Next: @UAB.
11. Ole Miss. 2-3. A bad team, but rallied to beat a bad Fresno on the road. Maybe there is some life in this team? Next: off (then Alabama).
12. Kentucky. 2-3. Is Leach here, yet?: Next: @South Carolina.

Re: SEC - Conference Discussion
I believe LSU has now ingested some bad medicine with the reinstatement of Jefferson. Although it won't be apparent this weekend vs a shorthanded FL.
We may lose to GA this weekend, but mark this down - LSU falls in Knoxville on the 15th.

Re: SEC - Conference Discussion
SEC rankings:
1. LSU. 6-0 (3-0). The Tigers eviscerated Florida. I have never actually seen someone club a baby seal to death, but I imagine it to be more merciful than what I saw yesterday. Clear #1 here. Next: @Tennessee
2. Alabama. 6-0 (3-0). The score was Bama 7, Vandy 0 with only 22 seconds left before the half (and the Dores had missed two easy FGs, or it would have been 7-6). There are definite chinks in the offense that could hurt this team down the road, but the D is for real. Next: @Ole Miss.
3. Arkansas. 5-1 (1-1). Stifled Auburn's QB, Trotter, on route to a 24-point win. If they get some folks healed, they will be a decent team. Next: a much-needed off week (then Ole Miss).
4. South Carolina. 5-1 (3-1). Spanked Kentucky. Steve Spurrier said, "We could have scored 70 or 80, but decided that 50 was enough." Ouch. SoS with the salt to the wound. Just like the good old days. Still not sure how this team lost to Auburn at home. Next: @Miss State.
5. Georgia. 4-2 (3-1). Beat Tennessee in Neyland which is never easy. Speaking of not easy, Vandy plays a very aggressive and stifling defense. Should be interesting. Next: @Vandy.
6. Auburn. 4-2 (2-1). Barrett Trotter had a horrible game. .315% completion percent, no TDs and an INT. For the spread option to work, you need a QB who can run and can complete the quick out 60+% of the time. Trotter is doing neither. Next: Florida.
7. Florida. 4-2 (2-2). Bama knocked out both the first and second string QB and LSU took Florida to the woodshed. Next: @Auburn.
8. Tennessee. 3-2 (0-2). Tough home loss. Tennessee is a young team, only second to Auburn in the SEC on the number of true freshman who have played this year. If Bray isn't hurt badly, this team will be playing good ball by November, but the schedule gets rough this week. Next: LSU.
9. Vandy. 3-2 (1-2). Played hard the first half, worn out for the second half vs Bama. Their defense was as advertised. Next: Georgia.
10. Miss State. 3-3 (0-3) . This team was behind at the half. To UAB. Horrible. Next: South Carolina.
11. Ole Miss. 2-3 (0-2). Being well-rested after an off week won't be enough to beat Bama. Next: Alabama.
12. Kentucky. 2-4 (0-3). Lost by 51(!) to South Carolina. Is Leach here, yet? Next: off (then Jacksonville State?).
