I'll admit it wasn't as good as the one about Dook Sucks being mistaken for an ogre upon entering the Medieval restaurant at Disney, but it wasn't a D...

there was a woman that posted here a few years back, can't remember her name.

She home schooled her kids and I gave her shit about it

I just wanted to tell her that she was right, I was wrong, if she is reading this

I believed at the time that kids needed social interaction and the challenges that came from being in a diverse environment

now I realize its about teaching the kids what is important to you in your belief of what they need to know to succeed. If you have the time and means, its the best option.

Friends of ours homeschool and I'm jealous of their kids. They just spent the whole months of January and February in Montana skiing and learning on the side. I think covid made people realize that corporate school has alot of wasted time.

The main reason we kept home-schooling our son is because we like taking trips when we want to and not when school is on break. Granted our Classical Conversations curriculum is sort of running aground with science and history (good thing our son is smarter than that) but it's been good overall. Mainly, we're just lucky that our kid is really bright although he needs to make better than 1270 on the SAT if he doesn't want to go into debt for college.

Aren't trade schools that rage in North Carolina.

We’re getting into the college process with our son and just finished a California college tour with him. The process is definitely different than when I did this. It seems like the SAT doesn’t matter that much but I’m skeptical so I’m being a hard ass with him on prepping for his next test. He didn’t do that great on the first one and I think I’ve impressed upon him that getting a good score is in his best interests so he should work hard at this for the next two months, do the best he can, and then it’s over. At least Georgetown requires a test so he knows he can’t opt out of sending them the score if he applies and, at the moment, that’s where he wants to go so he’s motivated to get this done well.

daughter killed the test, got a full ride. One year we got money back.

We were working with her on taking the test since 5th grade. I think she ended up taking them like 7 times.

I've done a 180 on home schooling. Totally support it now if you have the means. Youtube has more knowledge for a kid than any school

All I care about is that he prepares as well as he can. He’s got every resource imaginable available to him and if he squanders that, I’ll be pissed. He’s not going to because I’m paying very careful attention between now and June. And, whatever score he gets will be fine with me since I’ll know he was prepared. He’s got a 1360 now so he’s definitely got room to improve but even that’s ok for most of the schools he’s interested in.

Ha! I got a better score than your stupid kid!
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.
