"watched that game with the Phoenix chapter of the BC alumni association. None of us expected BC to win."

Don't you mean "neither of us"?

Tar Heels looked pretty good against those "cocks." But Colorado stole the day on Saturday.

I’ve had to change colostomy bags. I can think of nothing better for IB

Also, IB is showing yet again what an utterly clueless dumbass he is. Conferences can’t just extend blanket invitations in the traditional sense because of potential claims for tortuous interference with contract.

What are you soft as shit??? Of course they can extend blanket invitations in the traditional sense AND they do AND they did.

In 2003, the ACC extended a blanket invitation to Big East members BC, Miami, and Syracuse. That happened. Yes the Big East sued the ACC, BC, and Miami. Yes they did do that.

Sued? SO WHAT? That happened.

The governor of Virginia made it political and (in an effort to get as much money as he could for both Virginia universities) he "shook down" the chancellor at UVa to get that school to change their final vote to exclude BC and Syracuse and only invited VPI and Miami. That put VPI (a school that was suing BC) in a horrible position, a hypocritical position. VPI got OUT of their lawsuit against BC , Miami, and the ACC AND VPI instantly accepted the invite that the Virginia governor "procured" and BC was offered to join the Big East lawsuit against Miami and now VPI (and they declined, of course.)

SO WHAT? These things happened, counsellor.

Eventually BC was RE-offered (in 2004.) Syracuse, Pitt, and Louisville were soon to follow. ALL were already in a conference.

The Pac-10 offered Texas and Colorado (members of the Big-XII) back in 2010. Texas used that blanket offer to "shake down" the rest of the Big-XII conference and extract MORE MONEY from Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Mizzou, etc. And the Pac-10 had to "settle" for Utah, a school that they didn't want. But the invitation most certainly WAS made, fuck you counsellor.

The SEC made an "invitation" to Texas-A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, and Mizzou. ALL accepted their invitation and ALL were already in a conference and ALL already were under contract. The B1G(what-the-fuck-ever) made an "invitation" to Nebraska, USC, UCLA, Maryland, Rutgers, Oregon, and Washington. ALL accepted their invitation and ALL were already in a conference and ALL already were under contract.

Your comment to me (just now) BELONGS in a colostomy bag. Shut the fuck up counsellor, you stupid fuck. Stick to the law that you can do, blowing up marriages, because that work is basic and well formed and doable for someone as limited as you, and do not challenge me again.

I mean this is pretty obvious what happened. Colorado led the nation in transfers this year. Let that sink in for a moment. They led the nation in transfers and 73 of the 85 scholarship players on the roster are NEW as of 2022. That is just two seasons and almost 85% of the 85 scholies, turned over.

Prime Time has created a new college football "model" to follow. He KNEW that his players, sucked. He KNEW that the team he inherited, sucked. So, the guys who weren't going to play, he probably told them to transfer because they would not play. He had to honor the 4 year scholarship for the shit player, but NOT the position on the team they played. Transfer, or ELSE maybe I'll let you stay on the scout team but most likely, you will be sitting in the stands with your damn scholarship that you are NOT deserving. And the ones who left, he brought in the players that he knew could play. But most importantly, because he was a first year coach with Colorado, he didn't OWE any of these kids who were on this team, any loyalty on game day. Just discard all the shit players that you are left with (that are willing to transfer in the hopes of playing anywhere ELSE) and go on the transfer portal and bring in the guys that you want to fill out your 85.

So there you go. New model. The transfer portal makes things very easy for an aggressive and active first year coach to create a winner almost immediately. That is, assuming you can SELL a top, blue chip player, who was playing ELSEWHERE to join your team cold turkey. A coach who has been there for a few years can't do that because he will be seen as someone who doesn't even honor his offers and commitments to his existing players.

and what you learn form having a coach who believes in hiring mercenaries is that college scholarship are granted on a year to year basis, few colleges offer athletes a multi-year scholarship

In UK's first year Calipari got rid of a handful of players and moved 2 year starters into role playing positions

Point taken but....

That is a sport with 11 scholarships, not 85 and
That is a sport where a frosh right out of high school can get you into the NCAA tournament. No frosh (not named Tim Tebow) has ever really done that in college football.

More to the point, if the scholarships offered aren't all 4 year guaranteed (I thought they were, but if they aren't) then that makes things so much easier to Deion. Instead of sticking them in the stands, just throw the kids he doesn't like into the dumpster if they can't transfer.

I expect more mercenary work if Deion's model continues its success.

Deion won one game against a team that is not a perennial recruiting powerhouse but was built on pandemic super-seniors and likely is nowhere near as good as they were last year when they had a team full of 23 and 24 year olds. He obviously can coach a little and isn't like a Clyde Drexler out there trying to coach Houston basketball or something, but the amount of shock and expectation now is ridiculous. Shitass Nebraska will probably beat them this weekend.

well its still makes you a shithead for not honoring a multi year commitment for a kid trying to get an education

I know that's not the reality of it, but that is the charter of the school, to educate kids and you don't do that on a 1 year commitment or no commitment. To come in and clean house with kids who in theory committed their amateur career to a school and the school accepted that at face value is wrong. And its not a two way street. Kids don't have to make the same commitment to a school

I agree with all of this with the exception of one small important point: Deion didn't make that commitment to the student. Another coach made that commitment. So does Deion really have to honor it if his job sole job is to win football games?

no Colorado University made that commitment to the student. That coach isn't paying for those scholarships out of his own pocket.

now granted , the money that Deion will bring in for CU will quadruple the number of scholarships they can offer in a few years to all students. Its called the Nick Saban effect at Alabama and my daughter was a direct recipient of it, but still, its not a business, at least they try to pretend its not.
