Re: UCLA Bruins
Democrats have never been about "making the small needed changes for the people" unless that rhetoric was needed to maintain their coalition of voting blocs in times where those included both labor unions and rural voters, etc. Democrat politics has always been around identity politics and building strongholds of voting blocs based upon group voting, whether those voting blocs were the pro-slavery bloc, the anti-civil rights bloc, various immigrant blocs, then the labor voting bloc, then anti-immigration/eugenics bloc, then the pro-civil rights bloc, then the pro-immigration bloc, etc etc. It's only a matter of time in the far future before some issue switch causes evangelicals to be back voting 96% for democrats again, IMO. You can look at their current official branding to get all of the jist of what the Democrats are going for long term with their brand. Its just a fucking blue D in a blue circle. Its the most "we dont stand for anything, and dont want to stand for anything" logo design of any ostensibly marketing savvy organization that I can think of.
IMO, in the center of the political spectrum, Democrats are the party of cynicism and pure politics. Say and do whatever is necessary to win. Meanwhile, Republicans at the center are the party of naivete, of believing they are actually on the clear right side of every issue, but also inexplicably believing that that's all that matters and that their ideas will win in the long run. The only really scary part of the current political situation, is how many people are starting to become true believers in being "A proud Democrat/Republican" which is only giving the absolute revolutionary and counter-revolutionary nutjobs at the fringes more and more power. Democracy breaks down when people believe that they "belong" to political parties. Political parties do not exist for the benefit of the voter, they exist to serve the politician.

Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

Re: UCLA Bruins
Do y'all think we've given e enough second thoughts about his ideas of showing his face on the UCLA thread and not getting blasted with politics now?

Re: UCLA Bruins
Dudebrah, you are a bit slow if I may say so. The New Deal Dems actually gave a shit about the average American. You could argue they only did that because it kept Capitalism going, but to deny that it was the case means you are a young whippersnapper who doesn't know history. The identity politics hubbub started around 1980 when the DNC realized they wouldn't win another election unless they started pandering to big money like the Repubs.

I mean, yea, OK, I can see doing that
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: UCLA Bruins
justified? Yes. Will the driver of the golf cart get arrested and charged by local police with attempted murder or whatever? Yes. Will it ever go to trial? NFW. That is because of jurisprudence, there will never be 12 jurors who will convict that golf cart driver, of ANYTHING.
Best thing that the golf cart driver can do is get arrested, shut his mouth, don't say a word at the police station, ask for a lawyer, and REFUSE any deals that the ADA may offer, demand to be prosecuted with everything. Ignore any over-charge-threats from the ADA. Because he is going to know, he will win the case the same way Rittenhouse did (perhaps not for the same reason.)

Re: UCLA Bruins
my grandparents were hee haw, sanford and son, and wrestling
the TV was off unless it was one of those 3
my grandmother also had a clothes dryer that she kept grocery bags in because running a dryer was just a waste of money when you had a clothes line

Re: UCLA Bruins
Granny DS would make me suffer through that shit too. Hee Haw was awful but at least there were occasional decent musical guests. The same cannot be said for that mother fucker Lawrence Welk.
I proudly took AFAM 040 at Carolina.
