Atm. The # 1 cause of death of American children is guns. That's a fact. Yeah, let's just ignore innocent toddlers getting killed. Fucking ridiculous.

Rat just posted a tweet lamenting the deaths of 400 children out of hundreds of millions of us who have grown up over a 25 year period. There is a rational solution. It is to ignore the problem. Stop using these events to exploit and make money off of them and they would go away. No one would know or care that they happened, and more importantly these young people that have the inclination to do this would not look at this as a way to become famous and go out in a blaze of glory. The media loves a good school shooting. Since 1999, these school shootings are one of the events that make these pathetic former A/V club dweebs and their corporate overlords cream their collective pants. In the roughly 25 years since Columbine, more than 10,000 children have died from opioid overdose, probably 50,000-100,000 thousand children were murdered by their family members, 75,000 children died in car accidents. The risk of a child dying in a school shooting is miniscule, it is only of interest because of its sensational nature (which also exacerbates the problem as more dipshits view it as a way to become famous) and because of its usefulness among the growing politically active, moron class, who love to argue politics like yapping banshees at each other every day.
I thought eCat was specifically talking about tranny on non-tranny shootings.

As for the rest of your post, may be some truth to the blaze of glory argument but I do know we've already done gun regs as a direct response to school shootings and they don't seem to be helping. The Dems want to pass a new reg every time which is eventually going to get folks killed because the country is going down the toilet and we're not too far from a place where everyone will want to have a gun.

Guns are the number one leading cause of deaths among late teenagers and young adults where the problem is both suicide and engaging in criminal activity (gang and drug trade shootings). Guns are the number one cause of deaths among children and adolescents largely because the government doesnt keep track of the data for teens and adolescents and instead tracks ages 0-20 and the majority of those gun deaths are 17-20 year old adult criminals or bystanders caught in a criminal cross fire. Guns are probably down in the teens-twenties as far as mortality for "innocent toddlers." A rational worry for the parent of a young child is worrying about drowning or accidental falls, it is an irrational worry to screech into the night because the media is stoking the fear about school shootings, something which happens to very few people, but is talked about like its something everyone needs to worry about. Politically the only reason is that you can whip up fear in middle class know-nothings that their innocent toddler is going to get shot in a school shooting much easier than it is to convince them their child is going to end up gunned down on a corner in a drug turf war. That wont be their child, so they dont give a flying fuck.

Everyone already wants to own a gun, unless they can afford not to need one. The only people that don't own guns are people that are able to ensure their safety with dollars instead of bullets. The Democrat's focus on gun control is another area where they are leaving the working and poor classes behind. Poor people almost universally believe they need guns. My father had guns growing up, we never went to shoot them or anything like that. Its only purpose was to scare off and, if necessary, kill some motherfucker if they broke in. Something that was legitimately something that could happen. We didn't live in like Compton or Camden, but these were working class areas, and I believe almost everybody was armed. This was 30+ years ago. Hell, I've never owned a gun, never wanted one, because my entire adult life, I have never been afraid that someone would break in. I actually live in pretty much the same neighborhood now, but now, desperate poor people cant really fucking afford to live around here really anymore. My money keeps me safe. When I was a young adult, I always figured there was more chance of some idiot drunk friend of mine doing something stupid if I owned a gun, than someone actually trying to break in. This is the typical, democrat state of mind that guns aren't necessary because I don't need one, and it is becoming stronger all the time, espoused by people who have always lived in protected communities and for whom "danger" is having to walk by the day laborers congregating outside Home Depot. I may be in that group now, personally, but I also know, and remember, that there are hundreds of millions of people in this country that genuinely know that they need a gun to protect themselves and their shit from the other poor and criminal assholes they live with.

aTm wrote: Tue Mar 28, 2023 4:36 pm I am increasingly of the opinion that this is some sort of social contagion rather than a real medical crisis, but of course, like every other medical issue in our society, the profession only sees the money to be made off of exploiting this new business over studying the issue and getting to the bottom of it. I think eventually the tide is going to turn as these people get older. More and more of them are going to realize that they were "seduced" into the idea that they were really men rather than tomboyish lesbians. There will be large numbers of angry detransitioners looking to blame the people that destroyed their bodies and their health with hormones promising them a fantasy-land "normal" life as a member of the opposite sex.
This is exactly what Ann Coulter said. She referenced those 12 nut-job girls from Upstate New York in 2012 with the weird "ticking" they were making.

https://anncoulter.com/2022/08/31/teen- ... nd-transx/
My Ex Wife wrote:All I needed to know about the transgender craze was that in a massive survey of the parents of transitioning teens, the parent-respondents were 92% female, 71% had a bachelor’s or graduate degree, 86% favored gay marriage and 91% were white.

I’m dying to hear about the biological pathway of a medical condition that afflicts almost exclusively the offspring of liberal white women. (Silver lining: On breaks from talking about their transitioning daughters, the mothers can compare “long-haul COVID” symptoms.)

The adolescent transgenders themselves were 83% girls (by which I mean “female,” that mysterious life-form unidentifiable by Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson).

These delicate creatures — hormones flooding their bodies, social acceptance more important than life itself — have launched any number of interesting societal phenomena through the years:

— the Salem witch trials (look up Ann Putnam Jr.);

— anorexia nervosa (females are three times more likely to have anorexia than males);

— cutting (girls are three times more likely to engage in cutting than boys);

— cavalcades of prescription drugs that shouldn’t be given to any human being, least of all a teenager (teen girls are about twice as likely to be on antidepressants as teen boys); and now …

— transgenderism. (In the past decade, the number of girls seeking to transition has gone up by about 5,500%; compared to 1,500% for boys, according to the Tavistock Centre, the U.K.’s only gender identity clinic for teens.)
The "ticking" girls from Upstate New York, they were just.... hysterical. That was it, Hysteria. But (as Ann so carefully alluded to in her sociological mathematics) if you are a white woman, with at least a bachelor's degree (and perhaps a master's degree) and you support same-sex-marriage, HELL HATH NO FURY if someone tells YOU that your so very special daughter (who thinks she is a boy) is just.... hysterical.
My Ex Wife wrote:Feminist literary critic Elaine Showalter, for example, listed three prerequisites to a mass hysteria: “physician-enthusiasts and theorists; unhappy and vulnerable patients; and supportive cultural environments.”
These hysterical girls need mental health. And the parents (who have more education than they do, brains) need to shut the fuck up when someone tells them that their daughter's are hysterical.

That is because children and teens are not likely to die. If and when they do die, of COURSE it will most likely be a gun. And of COURSE it will most likely be an act of suicide wit the gun.

The problem with Rats graph is that it shows deaths as a percentage of deaths, and it does not show a numerical trend.

For example, the total teen death rate has dropped from 67 per 100,000 in the year 2000 to 49 per 100,000 pre-pandemic (it has risen sharply after 2020, government is no doubt in no hurry to discover those reasons and who exactly is to blame for that). That is a 27% decline over those two decades. So that mean more than 1/4 fewer teens (the class most likely to get shot) were dying overall at the end of the 2010s than at the beginning of the 2000s.

In addition, since the graph shows percentages of all deaths in the graph, the total of all components always has to add up to 100%. So for example, if gun deaths remain basically stable, over the term of the graph, but cars get a lot safer, and childhood cancers and other conditions gets more treatable, and those percentages drop because of it, then the percentage of everything else must go up even though the raw numbers of deaths from those causes didn't necessarily change.

Kids have gotten safer over the past twenty years by a large margin, but that idea isn't going to sell advertising time on Fox News or CNN.
