Do you even know what "patronage" is? Do you know what a "patronage" job is? Abraham Lincoln had to offer former democrat congressmen (men you lost their re-election bid in November of 1864) "patronage" jobs to get them to vote for the 13th amendment. The jobs were fucking BRIBES rat. They were bribes to get racist men with no skills and no competence to do anything outside of government to vote to free the slaves so said racists could continue to collect paychecks to do.... nothing.

The USPS has been a beacon of "patronage" for more than 100 years. That is why you pretty much have to be ex-military to get those desperately sought jobs. They pay extremely well and you don't have to do anything. And you get pension, tenure, fuckloads of vacation and sick pay, all the OT you want, whatever. Anyone can do them. There is no skills involved. You can pull in $75,0000 in a year and be a damn high school drop out. And how do you get that lifestyle? Patronage.

The FAA is no place for patronage rat. You need competent people flying our planes and you need competent people running the agency that regulates them. You know why you need competent people there rat? Because our congress is too PUSSY to write actual federal laws to regulate the airlines (its too difficult for them to understand it) so we rely entirely on the FAA to know what is happening to and make sure people don't crash planes and die. You don't have to worry about the USPS fucking things up. Your mail just gets there a couple days later, BFD. No one dies.

Now that I am "retired" I have a new occupation (so to speak.) In that new occupation, I travel all the time. And in travelling, I meet new people every day. And in meeting new people every day, I get to talk about current events with different people and get their take on things, get an outlook that is very new to me but may be common place to others. One such conversation happened to me today about the war in Ukraine.

I was chatting with a Russian national who has recently immigrated here to the United States. We started casually talking about the war in Ukraine and I wanted to get her take on it. I figured she would be angry with Russia (more specifically, Putin) for what was happening. She was not. She had an entirely different take, one that I had never considered. She said (and I quote) "we are Eastern Orthodox Christians in Russia." I asked what is that supposed to mean and she said "well, it means that we take Christ very seriously and we are very angry with the West in turning its back on Christ." And I dug deeper and asked why Russians are so angry with the West. She said (and I want to separate this part because it is very important)

We are going to war with Ukraine because the un-Christian West is starting to have a major influence over that country that borders us. We don't want your hysterical, secular thinking anywhere near Russia. You people that live here, you don't even know what genders your children are. You tolerate hysteria and insanity. You are un-Christian.

I followed up with a question as to why she even bothered to leave and come here and she said that she married an American man and she always wanted to live in the United States. I don't think love factored into the decision at all. I think it was all just money and geography. But her points got me thinking. We are supremely fucked up right now when we tolerate letting out children chop parts off their own bodies because they don't know what genders they are. We should be SHAMING such horrible behavior. But we don't.
