Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I think Miller is probably a dirtbag who deserves to get kicked off the team for his personal involvement in a murder, but I think some of it also overblown in terms of making it seem like he is more culpable than he is.
For some reason people are saying that Miller said certain quotes about the gun being loaded, that were really things that Miles told Davis (the trigger puller). Miles knew it was loaded and there was one in the chamber because it was his gun, but people saying Miller said these things gives an impression that Miller was involved in making sure it was loaded when probably Miller never even handled the gun. There is also an impression that Miller had the gun because he borrowed it or something, and thats why he had it until Miles asked for it back. Really what happened is that Miller and Miles were going out to the club and Miller drove them. Miles likely always has his loaded gun on him, but he decides not to take it in to the club, so he leaves it in Miller's car. Miller left the club early, or never went because he didnt want to wait to get in. And he goes back to his car and leaves Miles at the club, but Miles has left his gun in his car. So when Miles texts him that he needs his gun, Miller is just bringing back what Miles had left in the car a few hours ago and Miller never really was supposed to have it anyway. Miller is also two exchanges away from the trigger puller. He lets Miles get his gun out of his car from where he left it, but Miles lets the other guy Davis take the gun. It'd be hard to argue that Miller knew the gun was supposed to go to someone else to commit a crime with. Proving that he knew a crime was going to be committed or even that he was doing anything more than letting his friend get his own property back out of his car will likely be hard. Plus Im guessing he wasnt charged so that they would have someone who can testify against the other two.

Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I also think that from the Alabama basketball perspective its definitely a bigger deal than originally made out. This murder involved multiple players on the team (it seems possibly more were there than even just Miller and Miles). It's been portrayed as kind of only a Darius Miles incident when it actually involved multiple players and Alabama just sealed off and hoped the rest would go away.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
that does changes the intensity of the scrutiny on my part
Oats is still a dumbass however and he should have suspended Miller for some length of time that reflected the severity of the situation
and it has to be considered reckless and or negligent on his part to allow a gun to be retrieved and to be in the vicinity of the gun being used to commit a crime.

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

"Even in the SEC, that can't fly."
If it was Saban it would. Or Cal 10 years ago. Or Pitino 25 year ago...

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
the difference is Saban, Cal and Pitino would have had a layer of separation.
But this is murder, not getting caught with a stripper or an 8 ball.
You have to suspend Miller - no ifs ands or buts

While nowhere near as egregious, this is reminiscent of Dave Bliss.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Oats issued another statement that backpedal on what he said at the press statement.
I think his defense will ultimately be he didn't realize the level of involvement of Miller. That might keep the wolves at bay

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
so Amazon just posted they are working with a nationwide health care agency to add in video and on site clinic visits along with their online pharmacy for $144 a year and $5 a month respectively
interesting concept anyways, with the customer base they have and their infrastructure, they could be impactful to health care costs.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
We barely beat an awful Notre Dame team last night. I'm pretty convinced that these kids making hundreds of thousands of dollars (if not more) is a large part of the apathy on the court we're seeing. When there's nothing else to play for but the glory, you play. When you know you're going to "get mines" no matter how you play, well, this is what you get.
I realize that the great ones play hard irregardless, but I've never thought there were any truly great players on this team. And that's fine, we've won plenty without having truly great players, but they played hard. These guys just don't seem to really care that much. Not sure what's going to change that, certainly not with this team but into the future as well. You give a 19 or 20 year old kid half a mil, his mind starts to wander, to say the least.
Oh well, that's college hoops now. Look at the teams in the top 25, there are always going to be some of the familiar names, but look at who's in there now. You think the guys playing for St. Mary's are making half a mil a year in NIL money? Look at some of the others. I doubt it. They're playing b/c they love playing. I'm bitter...

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Boston College beat #6 UVa last night. Its been a looooonnnnngggggggggg time since anything like that has happened. I think when they knocked off an undefeated Syracuse a few years ago, that was bigger.
Rickart should be really happy this morning.

It’s a leadership issue. The coach isn’t leading the team like coaches should, and there are no players who are leaders.
