Well what else is it then? That's the only thing they referenced in that article, except for the wearing of the Oklahoma shirt in 2009 when his brother was coaching the Sooners and they played us in the 2009 tourny. I guess I can see how somebody might notice that, but I doubt anybody went out of their way to express their outrage about it. Capel is basically a nonentity in terms of Carolina players. I don't love him, I don't hate him, he's just one of the many who were kinda there but didn't really leave a lasting mark. I'm sure the 8-20 season and the association with Doh has something to do with my ambivalence towards him, but I really would like to know what it is that he takes as this massive disrespect by the entire fan base. I hadn't thought of Jason Capel in decades and if this story hadn't been brought up, I doubt I ever would have again...

"I genuinely don't know who the fuck we could go after to move the needle, and being stuck in the ACC doesn't help things.

We're Indiana Part Deaux. Fuck"

You and anti-K will be back on the bandwagon after we spank Duke and make another deep tourny run (I'm not saying y'all are bandwagon fans by any means, just expressing my belief that this team has the parts and talent to make a run when the time comes)...

"We're Indiana Part Deaux. Fuck"

Considering how Hubie is recruiting, I'd say we're more like UK Part Deux. Even so, considering the lack of on-court success UK has had of late, I guess I agree with you about the "fuck" part...

this is why you hate Capel

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Antlers boy was an overrated, entitled, cocky piece of shit loser. The little bitch was jealous of Forte. He was the captain of the SS 8-20. He whined about being labeled a role player (“I ain’t no damn role player!”). He got his ass lit up by a lot worse players than Tayshaun Prince. Fuck that Humpty Hump looking asshat to Hell.

Nerd Alert! Here are the numbers.

We’re in deep trouble. As stated, we’re down to #43 in the NET rankings today, with these games remaining:

Feb. 4 at dook* - 6:30/ESPN
Feb. 7 at Wake Forest - 7:00/ESPNor2
Feb. 11 vs. Clemson - 2:00/ESPNor2
Feb. 13 vs. Miami - 7:00/ESPN
Feb. 19 at NC State - 1:00/ESPN
Feb. 22 at Notre Dame - 9:00/ESPNor2
Feb. 25 vs. Virginia - 6or8/ESPN
Feb. 27 at Florida State - 7:00/ESPN
March 4 vs. dook* - 6or6:30/ESPN

Here’s the breakdown:

Q1 dook* x2; UVA; @ncsu; @wake Forest (barely)
Q2 Clemson; Miami;
Q3 @notre Dame; @fsu

We desperately need to win the remaining home games, plus the two Q3 road games. That puts us at 21-10. No gimmes for this team whatsoever this year. If we lose to anyone except UVA at home, we’re in deep k*rzyt. Even dook* could fall to Q2 for the home rematch.

For context, here’s how the NCAA Net defines the quadrants:

Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75
Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135
Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240
Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353

He caught a lot of shit at the game for wearing that OU shirt.

Looks like the Gators pulled off a stunner last night. I saw them go on a 17 point run early but I switched because I figured UT would come back & it's to early to give a shit.

We have had the same core for three consecutive seasons, and they're showing the same issues they showed under Roy on their first day.

Maybe we just have a bad batch that doesn't always work well together / pan out.

Bacot is a very good college player, but he's limited by a noticeable lack of athleticism.

Davis is a player who can be a very good college player and has a lot of things you want to see, but he never puts it all together on a consistent basis.

Love is nothing short of maddening. He has as much scoring talent as any guard at Carolina over the past decade, but 50-60% of the time, he's either off from outside or trying too damn hard.

Leaky is Leaky. He's a good defender who wishes he had better offensive skills, and I almost cringe when he hits a three because you know he's going to brick 4 or 5 he wouldn't have taken otherwise after making that one shot.

Puff could be a great contributor, but he's as physically fragile as my GI track after a Bojangle's breakfast biscuit.

Dunn could be a decent contributor, but he doesn't get enough opportunity to play in garbage time situations to build the necessary confidence and skills because this team plays down to competition.

Styles falls in the same boat as Dunn along with thinking he's more of a shooting wing than he is, which may be due in part to that massive shot he hit against Baylor.

Nance was a nice addition, but he wasn't what we needed. We needed a true stretch 4, not a 5 who can hit the occasional outside shot who thinks he is a stretch 4 but is just a mobile 5 who has a shot that must be acknowledged due to occasional danger.

Washington has a lot of potential, but I'm still not sold.

You can't blame Davis for the roster. Outside of Nance, he inherited this crap. Now, you can go after the man for coaching decisions.

Also, I don't get why you don't foul when you're up late and the opposition has the ball with a chance to tie / take the lead and/or start fouling the opposition with a couple of minutes to go in a tight game. Valvano did this, and it really worked well in the first couple of rounds in '83. I know folks will say that you're giving the opposition a free chance to tie / take the lead, but you're also putting their kids in an awfully tense position wherein an error could be made resulting in a bad shot. Plus you're giving yourself the chance to get a rebound and get fouled in that process and/or push the ball up to have a final shot of your own. With our talent, even with the above issues, that's not a bad situation to have. (Side Note: Hunter S. Thompson was watching Valvano orchestrate this tactic in '83 against Pepperdine or UNLV, and Thomspon looked at the guy watching the game with him and said that State would win the tournament because of Valvano.)

Still, at the end of the day, if this team had hit its free throws, we aren't bitching as much today.

The best player in college basketball playing for the 5th best team in the country, scored 40 points tonight. And they won. Decisively.

Any team. Any court. Any time, day or night.

DS — Much respect to you as a fan. You know you’re Carolina Basketball, but I’ve got to take exception here. Yes, Roy recruited the core of the starting lineup, but Hubert’s been on staff for 11 years now. Did he have zero input into the roster makeup? Granted, he sorta inherited Dunn and Styles as his first class, but what about his next two?

22: Nickel, Shaver, Trimble, Washington

23: High, Wilcher

Davis refuses to play his bench, except in baffling situations, even when our starters can’t hit shit. I’ll concede that there have been health issues with Washington, but Trimble may be a worse shooter than his half brother. Shaver is a career end of the bench guy. So is 8 Mile Nickel Hube’s idea of a sniper?

The incoming class has the 35th and 60th rated players, neither a lights out shooter. Wilcher went from top 10 to off the McD AA roster. High was a fallback when we lost TJ Power to dook*.

Things are looking up TWO YEARS from now, but come on man. We’re gonna suck ass next year, unless Cadeau & Jackson reclassify and are ready on Day 1. I hope Davis is scouring the Portal daily. We’re gonna need a lot of help to stay relevant next season.

What if Love and Bacot come back? They'll make way more money at UNC than anywhere else they could possibly go...

We'll know more about this team after this weekend. If they take care of business against Dook, that'll be a good sign that they can turn it on when they need to. Granted, it will raise the question of why they aren't doing so on a regular basis, but I'd rather have that problem than the alternative. The alternative being, of course, that they lose this weekend. I will officially start to be worried if that happens...

Really no excuse to lose to Dook this weekend, and really, to not beat them soundly. They're really not that good and Scheyer's ass face isn't either. We're a veteran team that beat them twice last year under much more difficult conditions. If we don't put the hammer down this weekend, we may be in trouble. But I think we will...
