Cohen could very well say "I spent all of this money to get the same result at the end of the day" and return the Mets' shitass ways and settling for 80-85 wins. I don't think Cohen does that, but it's a realistic possibility.

Also, even with his big spending ways, I wonder if Cohen wants to meet deGrom's salary demands since Cohen and Mets may know first hand just how fragile deGrom is (moreso than others for whatever reason). Some other teams / doctors could miss it / view it differently or they could say deGrom is worth the risk whereas the Mets could view it as not worth the risk. Plus, deGrom is 34.
