Along the lines of Reds futility, remember that time the great Tom Glavine started the last game of the year. Just needed a win to go into the playoffs. What does he do? Promptly gave up 10 runs.

He was past being “great” at that point and by many years, and I watched it with a law school buddy who is a huge Mets fan.

I've been watching a lot of Mariners baseball this season. Usually fall asleep to it. There's something about them. It's like watching your donated heart implanted in someone else. You want them to thrive. They're a pretty good team.

Couldn’t have happened to a better team (except the Cardinals, but they don’t do dumb shit, unfortunately…)

Does MLB actually think they have "banned the shift" with this new 2023 rule set? Teams are just going to shift with outfielders instead of infielders and do weird things like have the third baseman or shortstop sprinting into the outfield crossing the infield line as the pitch is released to cover the opposite field

They did big time. Went from "we might get Sota" to overpaying for a few no names. Still, they will be in the thick of the NL playoffs at least.
