I had a college girlfriend who went crazy like that when I dumped her in law school. She called my parents' home to complain about me cheating on her. DS Sr grabbed the phone, asked "did you have a ring on your finger?" and when she answered with the negative further replied with a directive to shut up because she had nothing to complain about.

so my son is dating this girl and has been for a couple of months.

I noticed that he isn't all about her 24/7, matter of fact , he paces himself with seeing her

Turns out she is a rabbit boiler who is threatening suicide if they break up and to prove it she cut herself in front of him.

He hasn't talked to me about it yet, he talked to my wife and she talked to me.

Not sure what to do here, my wife's sister had a boyfriend she broke up with hang himself in a hotel room about a week after and it fucked her up for the rest of her life. She still talks about this guy 35 years later.

Anyways , if he asks me, I'm going to tell him to use their relationship growing as an argument to get her into counseling, then once she is in counseling, call the counselor up and let her know that he is out as soon as she thinks its safe.

I have no idea if that's the best approach or not. I was worried they were going to move in together because his goal is to shack up with a vagina that can pay half the bills, but it looks like he isn't getting on that train ride.

The Borderline Personality Disorder girls, the best way to handle them is to GET AWAY. For the sake of your son, I certainly hope he gets as far away from her as he possibly can. Hopefully he does talk to you about her and hopefully you can convince him to get away from her, and stay far away. And if possible (when he is breaking up with her) record the break up so that if he is forced to talk to a 3rd party (in case she lies to a judge to get a restraining order on your son), he is protected.

Staying in an intimate relationship with a BPD girl, you really run the serious risk of damage to your finances, your health, your career, and your faith in God. BPDs are sociopathic. And there is some horrible "logic" to the way a sociopathic brain works. Tell your son to watch Girl Interrupted and focus on Susanna Kaysen and Lisa Rowe. Both of those girls, cutters. Both of those girls, suicidal. Both of those girls, use men for whatever they can take from them (the way a drowning victim climbs on top of anyone going out to save them.) Both of those girls, BPD.

You can't cure these girls. You can't. There is no way a secular counsellor can treat BPD. The catholic church used to think the Rite of Exorcism was necessary to treat them. That is how fucked up they are. The only way they get better is the way Wynona Rider got better playing Susanna Kaysen, you just decide you are better and you stop destroying people. You have to make the change. You have to start implementing. You have to stop trying to prey upon those that you know, love you.
