I'm terrified that the US is now going to fall behind Sweden in every measurable data point. Seriously, though, how many adults can do anything more than the most basic math? Not many, I'd say. And plenty can't even do that. I'm not really worried that school kids aren't scoring as well in a subject that they're going to forget 90% of as soon as they graduate...

Sweden is successful because of the culture that exists in Scandinavian counties. These people are generally educated, calm, lucid, intelligent, reasonable, and they listen to people with whom they disagree. Their behavior in how they treat one another is what makes them successful. Watch this.



That is why Sweden succeeds. This kind of conversation, I don't think YOU could just sit there and listen to Dr Peterson like that.

If the working conditions are bad at Taco Bell, then maybe (without labor) they have to shut their doors and lay the managers off until they hire a whole new staff? Then they would have to make some major changes.

That is how you punish bad ownership.

Instead of going on strike, quit. Everyone should quit. Managers too, quit. Just walk across the street, have whatever fast food restaurant is there hold a mirror under your nose to see if you are breathing by fogging it up, get hired there, and tell Taco Bell to go fuck themselves.

Going on strike is what people who CAN'T get another job do to FORCE their current employer to submit to their will OR for people who do well formed work (and are thus, entirely replaceable by any 22 year old) and have too much to lose with their current employer. That is why teachers go on strike, they don't want to lose their seniority and pension. They could teach anywhere but they don't want to start at the bottom of the seniority list. Same thing as flight attendants and pilots. And police. And firemen. And garbagemen. You strike because a contract ensures you are protected NOT by your performance but by the fact that you were hired before the other guy.

That is not the situation at Taco Bell. Quit. Just quit right there, walk right out the door and fuck the owner right in the ass.

And before you lose your shit, ask yourself this: why have you never heard of computer scientists going on strike? Why is it that large companies have to lobby your congressmen to IMPORT Indians (as H1B) when their own computer scientists never strike?
