Re: Florida State Seminoles
This is about as god damn stupid as there is. Trump got the same 46% of the vote in both elections. More people came out to vote than in any previous election. Why? Because they wanted Trump out. How can y'all be so fucking dense.eCat wrote: ↑Fri Jul 08, 2022 12:59 pmbut his basis for his belief and the belief of his followers was tied to something that had not happened before in the history of politics. A sitting president received more votes than he did in his prior election and still lost. I told you well before Jan 6th ever happened that if that issue wasn't addressed in a satisfactory manner then it would never be put to rest and you had basically a subset of 80m voters who believed there was election fraud.hedge wrote: ↑Fri Jul 08, 2022 11:54 am "what was planned for months? claiming that voting machines were invalid? That's the big coup attempt?"
Trying to seize voting machines, which nobody wanted to touch (DoD, Dept. of Homeland Security, etc, he tried them all, the only surprising thing being that you're not complaining about how the "deep state" was thwarting the will of the president), explicitly begging the Georgia Sec. of State to "find me 13,852 votes (and exact number that was one more than what he lost by), using the office of the President to mislead and lie about the election being stolen and thus undermining public trust in the idea of the election process itself, getting fake "electors" to submit bogus electoral college votes as if they were the real ones (many such fake electoral ballots were submitted, and hopefully the people who signed their names to them will be going to prison very soon), and, what I think is going to end up being the case, telling leaders of domestic terrorist organizations like the Proud Boys and the 2%'ers (or whatever the fuck their name is) that he was going to deputize them as federal "security" on Jan. 6th., thus giving the Presidential stamp of approval to their terrorist, treasonous activity.
The guy threw so much shit on the wall it's very difficult to keep up with it all, and outright impossible to keep up with it if you don't even really care, which you don't seem to care that he consciously and deliberately attempted to overturn a legal election just so his fat crybaby ass wouldn't have to leave the White House, only that the attempt failed. I doubt you'd be so sanguine if somebody tried to rob your house or worse but just didn't "get away with it." Attempted murder and conspiracy to commit just about any crime carries virtually the same penalties as actually doing it...
You continually dismiss those people as hicks and rubes but the bigger issue is regardless of what they are , they are still American citizens who believe that there was election irregularities and they have 4 years of watching the Democrats say the 2016 election was rigged by the Russians. The seed for election corruption was planted by the Democrats, not Trump, and then Joe Biden gets more votes than Obama, who by all accounts had a record turn out in voting, while Biden couldn't even fill up a venue of voters at one of his events.
I'm not sanguine about it, I just don't believe this was an insurrection or coup by any definition, and the same people that tried to impeach Trump are the ones speaking in hyperbole every chance they get about what happened on the 6th.
The country has been conditioned to believe that democrats will say and do whatever they can in an effort to punish Trump. We saw it here daily for years.

He might as well say he needs the second coming of Christ because thats more likely to happen before November than Democrats gaining seats in this election.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Yes. If that ever happened, I would hope whoever perpetrated it would be prosecuted. I assume you're referring to people within Hilary's campaign, and perhaps even Clinton herself. You'd think if that had occurred as you laid it out (and of course as Trump has never stopped saying since before Day 1 of his presidency) that he would use every resource at his disposal to do just that (while also having both houses of Congress on his side). Strangely, the only thing that's come of this accusations, after 6 years, is this lame ass Durham investigation, which so far has only managed to procure one prosecution and zero indictments. But don't worry, if the repubs regain the House in November, I'm sure we'll be treated to Benghazi-like hearings for the next 2 years...aTm wrote: ↑Fri Jul 08, 2022 12:31 pm Im curious if you would consider it to be criminal to create a strategy where you claim that Russians hacked an election and then spend the next 4 years falsely attempting to link campaign and government officials to Russia, including using government surveilance apparatus to start this plan by spying on the candidate before the election had even occured?

"not to mention multiple attempts to impeach a duly elected official in an effort to derail his agenda based on this false premise"
That is not why he was impeached twice (not attempted, he was impeached). Are you suggesting that Congress doesn't have the power to impeach?

I'm talking about attempts to impeach him over Russian collusion and gasp...nationalism.
Various people and groups assert that U.S. president Donald Trump engaged in impeachable activity both before and during his presidency, and talk of impeachment began before he took office. Grounds asserted for impeachment have included possible violations of the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the Constitution by accepting payments from foreign dignitaries; alleged collusion with Russia during the campaign for the 2016 United States presidential election; alleged obstruction of justice with respect to investigation of the collusion claim; and accusations of "Associating the Presidency with White Nationalism, Neo-Nazism and Hatred", which formed the basis of a resolution for impeachment brought on December 6, 2017.
The first formal impeachment efforts were initiated by two Democratic representatives (Al Green and Brad Sherman) in 2017, the first year of his presidency. Since the Republicans controlled both the House and the Senate during 2017 and 2018, the likelihood of impeachment during that period was considered by all to be low. A December 2017 resolution of impeachment failed in the House by a 58–364 margin. The Democrats gained control of the House in 2019 and launched multiple investigations into Trump's actions and finances. Speaker Nancy Pelosi initially resisted calls for impeachment. In May 2019, Pelosi indicated that Trump's continued actions, which she characterized as obstruction of justice and refusal to honor congressional subpoenas, might make an impeachment inquiry necessary. An increasing number of House Democrats and one Republican were requesting such an inquiry.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Approval ratings dropped sharply for Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, after he helped lead Congress to pass bipartisan gun legislation after the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, according to a new poll by the University of Texas/Texas Politics Project.
The poll, taken in June and released this week, shows that 24% of voters said they approve of Cornyn's job performance, dropping from his 32% approval rating two months ago, reports the San Antonio Express-News.
The approval number was 11 percentage points worse than those for President Joe Biden. Meanwhile, 50% said they disapprove of Cornyn's job performance, for the highest disapproval rating among all of Texas' elected Republicans, including Gov. Greg Abbott and Sen. Ted Cruz.
Cornyn's disapproval rating in the poll two months ago was at 39%.
Jim Henson, director of the Texas Politics Project said he doesn't "ever recall ever seeing a drop as severe in such a short amount of time as we saw Cornyn drop between April and June."

I can see where people are confused in believing Americans want more gun control legislation.

Yep, #TeamBlue will be out, #TeamRed will come up to bat, and the exact same bullshit as we see now with these current congressional hearings will be on display again with each side squalling and screeching about how "they stole signs!", or "they doctored the ball!" when a few moments before they were making the same arguments as the other side in the previous half inning. #TeamBlue fans will screech and wail like the stupid fucking Cameron Crazies in their nerd costumes, and #TeamRed will bitch and moan with their fat asses in their seats in between stuffing hot dogs in their fat faces and making comments about how they are "the best fans in politics"hedge wrote: ↑Fri Jul 08, 2022 2:41 pmYes.
