Just so we are all on the same page. This was a bill in the state of Florida that empowers parents and gives them the right to decide how their children will be taught in their school district. DeSantis signed this bill into Law. Done. So now, parents have authority and power to challenge the school board and their decisions.aTm wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 10:27 am Disney already has been doing this. Not to mention basically owning the concept of "sports" at this point, but they've been at the forefront of the emergence of selling to "nerds with money." They may have purchased Pixar for traditional reasons, but they are also all in on Marvel and Star Wars. The biggest deal in the whole fuckin resort when I went in early 2020 was getting up early to stand in a huge crowd at the entrance to Hollywood Studios to get a spot on the Star Wars ride for that day.

For the LBTGQQXYZ community, this kind of law in primary and secondary education is a complete and total non-starter. That is because the LBTGQQXYZ community do NOT want the parents of the children to have the authority to push back on school districts when they teach children that they can be whatever gender they want. Moreover, there are actual FINANCIAL DAMAGES that a school district must award parents if they take actions that would in anyway empower the LBTGQQXYZ community without first notifying the parents and getting their approval. This is a fucking disaster for the #Woke left and anything they can do to stop it, they will. The LAW wrote:Parental Rights in Education: Requires district school boards to adopt procedures that comport with certain provisions of law for notifying student's parent of specified information; requires such procedures to reinforce fundamental right of parents to make decisions regarding upbringing & control of their children; prohibits school district from adopting procedures or student support forms that prohibit school district personnel from notifying parent about specified information or that encourage student to withhold from parent such information; prohibits school district personnel from discouraging or prohibiting parental notification & involvement in critical decisions affecting student's mental, emotional, or physical well-being; prohibits classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in certain grade levels; requires school districts to notify parents of healthcare services; authorizes parent to bring action against school district to obtain declaratory judgment; provides for additional award of injunctive relief, damages, & reasonable attorney fees & court costs to certain parents.
Getting Disney on their side was a big help. Problem is, Disney has a lot to lose by bitching about this law. So we shall see what happens.
