Two things I hope America is learning is that 1) We are far from a Patriotic nation and 2) Our leaders are to fucking old.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Spoke with a retired colonel who had some decent insight. His opinion is that Ukraine could end up being the best thing that ever happened to the west/NATO regarding Russia since the fall of the USSR.
America bled the Aoviets to death in the Afghan war by arming the mujahideen. If America can do that with those logistical nightmares, if Russia wants to occupy Ukraine for a bit, what the Russians will endure in Ukraine will make Afghanistan look like a cakewalk for the Russians. NATO will not need to send troops to fight. With NATO countries bordering the Ukraine, we will be able to train the insurgents and supply them with the best weapons.
He says that over the paste decade or so, the Ukraine army is known as being more professional and better trained whereas the Russian army is largely a bunch of poorly trained, short term conscripts doing their mandatory service. Add to that ethnic Ukrainian motivation and predilection towards despising Russia, and you have the perfect recipe to bleed Russia dry.

Europe will pay a heavy price for a Russian withdrawal - at least until they buy natural gas from us.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

On our neighborhood karen site, people were complaining about middle of the night loud long transports flying overhead. As usual I slept through it. Gotta love Seriquil. Anyhoo, it has been eerily quiet in the sky around here lately. No jets in at least a week.

I'd love to see Ukraine send bombers into Russia and attack a Russian oil supply depot

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I was watching this movie with my daughter a few years ago, she sees this scene and she asks me what is a Savings and Loan? Good question, they are ALL out of business. You want a loan and you can't get one from a bank, Title Auto Loan, Pawn Shop, Pay Day Lenders, Mafia and leg breakers, good grief. Those are horrible choices. So dont wreck your credit. Go to the bank. She then asks me what is a Department Store? So I tell her Macy's, JCPenny, and she goes, oh WalMart. And I'm thinking no not really, but whatever, all the Department Stores are out of business (thanks Amazon.) And then she asks me, what's a bus line? And I tell her that we have buses here in Phoenix, they travel the same route each day (that would be the "line"), but they are all owned by the city. It used to be a bus line was a for-profit, privately held business. I guess that is the way it was but not any more?
This is my favorite Christmas movie. There isn't a better one, but boy is it dated.

Russia now finds itself in open warfare today (Monday in Russia) against the enemy I predicted for them, the European Union. The EU (along with the UK and US) will quite possibly end up destroying them utterly economically without firing a shot on their own in anger. Neutral Sweden and even Switzerland are seemingly moving toward taking sides. Germany basically announced that they will be rearming.
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
If Putin feels like his back is against the wall and that he has nothing left to try, I worry he will attempt* to fire nukes.
*I say attempt because even in a situation like Russia, there are command and control issues, and I wonder if the order(s) would be carried out.
I hope a coup occurs soon and that whoever takes control is happy to go to the bargaining table with reasonable proposals.

Their North African suppliers are already ramping up production and pushing more through the pipeline(s). Granted, I don't know what the capacity is for such a transfer, but I have read that those events are already taking place.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I don't know if you guys care for National Review or now, but they have had some really wonderful things to say about Ukraine and its fight against Russia's aggression. Here is one piece today.
Rich Lowry wrote:One reason Ukraine’s fight has engendered such a strong emotional reaction is that there is something inherently stirring about a people defending their homeland from a would-be imperial overlord, and that’s fundamentally what’s happening on the ground in Ukraine. If anyone had any doubt that Ukraine has its own national identity, the early days of this war should have eliminated it. And another layer of national heroes and national lore is being created as we speak. Of course, Putin is appealing to nationalist sentiment and themes himself, but his case that Ukraine isn’t an independent nation is spurious, and he explicitly pines for a return to empire. His war trespasses against the norm of national self-determination established after World War II. The Latvian prime minister put the issue very well the other day, underlining how the struggle in Europe is between nation-states and a budding empire. The defense of true nationalism — i.e., self-governing peoples who don’t want to be swallowed up by countries seeking a return to supposed imperial grandeur — is going to be a key element of the West’s pushback against the Russia-China challenge in the years ahead.

I feel it may be in China's best interest to keep Russia afloat. My guess there is some backroom talk going on between the two on how to get out with saving face.aTm wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 12:11 am Russia now finds itself in open warfare today (Monday in Russia) against the enemy I predicted for them, the European Union.
